think im wanna go to a con?

you know i dont know a whole lot about anime but i no some big names like naruto dragon ball z one piece rurouni kenshin yu yu hakusho and inuyasha. so i stumbled upon the anime cons and figured since im not really doin anything this summer i was gonna try to go to one to get the feel of it.(im not a die hard fan but i thought it would make a cool vacation) so a few questions i have on the experience are

is it better to cosplay?
should you go with somebody?
if your under 18 and can't drive do your parents have to stay with you?(im above 13 btw)
WHAT THE HEck CAN I DO!!? on a serious note what kind of activities are there? is it just dress up walk around and talk?
how expensive is it on average?
are there prizes like contests, tournaments, money give aways ect?


overall thats all i really wanna know. idk if i even wanna go yet but i might aswell get some info on it to see if its anything interesting. thx -_-

I'm really shocked no one's answered.
Cons, in my opinion, are gifts from god. I love them, been to four now (3 in England, where i live and one in Florida). I'm assuming you're in the usa, which is where the most cons are held, obviously. I'd recommend going in cosplay because to me I feel like I fit in more when i'm doing so. You could even make a low budget akatsuki cloak with a long black jacket and iron on patches of the clouds, get a konoha headband and draw lines by your eyes, and voila, Itachi. Though the easiest one is L from death note (white top, blue jeans, shaggy black hair).

i live in VA so is otakon a good one i want a well known one thats close?

im trying to cosplay as killer bee but aint tryna pay $100 for it and am trying to make my own could you help with that?

Go here, it has one in Virginia there. I really have no clue about an average price, but if you want to have a good time i'd advise you save up a bit for all the merch and expensive food And about pre-registering, i'd say 3+ months in advance, although once I did mine just before the deadline (about 5 days), so...
Bee cosplay, hehe I cosplayed his student, Omoi (same thing basically).
You want rope, red paint, black jogging bottoms, and some white clothy material (and of course you can get the headband online).
Personally i'd recommend Kakuzu. He's an akatsuki, and it'll be cheaper and easier. You could always make Bee's headband too if you can't find it online, it won't be too hard. But, i'm sure sites like cosplay magic would have what you want, just not sure about them selling any pieces separately. Hope it all goes well for you though, and be sure to upload progress pics!

im pretty sure it does i read at animecons website that there are 2 conventions one specifically for hawwaii and the other alaska you should look into it

Haha, cheers. I met that Hidan on other forums, but when I got there she was screaming my name so I gave her a hug and had a chat lol. It was awesome to find a Hidan though.

@Azal surely, you'd be willing to travel to get to a con. The one I go to takes me about 90 minutes to get there, although last time it took almost three hours since the trains were being gay. All i'm saying is cons are definitely worth travelling far for, especially if you stay there.
