What is your opinion on this?

To summarize:

Basically a Middle Eastern kid about my age found a FBI tracking device under the hood of his car.

When he removed it the FBI came knockin'.

As far as we know he has no known ties to any thing with the current "terrorist" issue. He is in fact a US citizen who goes to Mission College here in California. His Dad ( Who was a Islamic-American Activist) recently passed away in Egypt which the circumstances of said death are unknown. So there isn't really a reason for the FBI to have put it there.

The FBI even denied the device and the kid suggested he was being watched anywhere from 3 months to 6 months.


So what are your thoughts on this?

According to the article, this was way too amateur and not state-of-the-art to be official FBI. And I agree. With the way people are now, I wouldn't be surprised if some idiot decided to "help his country" by spying on his local neighborhood Middle-Eastern kid.

I'm not sure if this would be classified as racism or religionism, but either way it was incredibly stupid. At least in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. It was magnetically connected to the car...FBI is far more advanced than that come on now watch 2 Fast 2 Furious xD

If it was fully FBI made it would have been wired into the engine block somewhere out of sight enough to not be noticed so easily.

I think it's honestly kind of sad though how someone would label the kid automatically just by his race and/or religion.

I heard that the kid had said something (Facebook?) along the lines of "it would be so easy to blow up a mall for these reasons...", and that was why he was "under suspicion", or whatever. He meant that the mall(s) have low security, and therefore it would be very easy for someone else to commit a crime, such as blowing up the mall(s).
