But konan is longer associated with Akatsuki in any position. So there is no way for her to play the role of spy for Naruto. She might help him in some other way, but definitely not as a spy.

I easily see this happening. And I agree on the part about A'/Fourth Raikage might not trusting Konan. He doesn't trust a lot of people.

The problem with this is that Kishi's spoilers are phenomenally inaccurate. Remember how this was supposed to be the "Year of Kakashi"? And yet we've hardly seen any of him.
(I would like to see Konan return, though.)
