Cool! I'm going to one in April. Or was it June? I'll send you a design for my OC cosplay costume later.

Kakashi's face mask!~
please be careful when working with sewing needles ^_~
Spoiler:

MATERIALS
1) Fabric - Jersey Knit or Stretchable Knit or similar
2) Pattern - provided below
3) Velcro - to fasten mask about your neck and face.

PATTERN

First of all, you need a pattern. Provided here is a rough sketch of a pattern that you can use. This pattern is made for a neck of 14″ in circumference, so if you have a bigger neck or smaller one, alter the pattern to fit.

Download pattern

The pattern is labeled with numbers and different colored lines. Green lines are where you will be sewing the pieces together. Blue lines represent the hem.

Thanks to Annie-Mei of Coscom, for this suggestion: the Pattern again, is a generic pattern, so if you have larger neck, you have to adjust. Also, before cutting the pattern on your material, you may have to adjust the side numbered "2". This is the length between your nose and your chin. if you happen to have a longer face; measure the distance between the tip of your nose to your chin and adjust the pattern to fit.

Place your pattern on your folded material. Where it says “Place On Fold” this is where you will place that part of the pattern up to the fold of the fabric. Cut your pattern from your material. What you’ll end up is something like a butterfly look. Where 2 and 3 are circled, you’ll be sewing these two parts to each other.

Step 1: Sew the top Hem

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123429

Where it says 1 in a circle, go ahead and to a 1/4″ hem. Click on image to see the hem.

Here you want to be careful since any stretchable material tends to bunch under your sewing machine’s foot. Use slight pressure when guiding your material through the sewing machine. If you are hand sewing, be sure to hold material loosely so you do not overstretch it.

Step 2 & 3: Sew the 2’s together; Sew the 3’s together

With the top hem facing you, fold your material along the fold and then sew the material together where it says 2 and 3.

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123430
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123431

Step 4: Sew the bottom Hem

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123435

As with the top hem, sew a 1/4″ along the entire length of the mask.

Step 5: Sew the Side Hems

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123436

Sew your side hems; 1/4″ hem on each side. Here you can also modify to make your mask tighter around the neck as well. Try on, and get a feel of how it rests on your face.

Step 6: Sew on your Velcro

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123438
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1123437

Now, all you have to do is add your velcro and voila! Your form fitting mask is all set to go!

cheap and easy kunai pouches!~

Spoiler:

Stuff you'll need:
-Pocky boxes(Stawberry, caramel, grape...anything in the smaller, thinner packaging)
-Black and blue paint
-Paint brushes
-Refrence pics
-Hot glue gun
-Cardboard
-Black fabric(You don't REALLY need this, but it makes it look more accurate)
-Strap + snap/velcro to keep it on your leg
-removed-

1. Paint the boxes with the first layer. This layer can either be black or blue, it doesn't matter. I started with blue.
-removed-
2. Let that dry. Paint the second either blue or black, depending on what your first was. If it was black, use blue and get it over with. If you did what I did, use blue and then one more blue.
-removed-
(This shows it partly done, first layer and second.)

3. Now it's take to cut out the back. Take a piece of cardboard and trace a rouch outline of the boxes.
-removed-
Cut around the outline. Trust me, this helps. Now keeping at least one box on the cardboard, cut out the true shape of the back. But be REALLY careful not to cut the paint off. It may sound stupid, but it's the one thing I didn't think would happen.
-removed-

4. Cut that piece of black fabric to fit on and around the piece of cardboard (Paint the back the blue-black color if you don't use fabric and skip the next step). It won't really matter if you don't cover the back. If it bugs you, cut a smaller piece and cover it.
-removed-

5. Once you have that done, it's time to glue the fabric on. Take your hot glue gun and extra sticks (I used about 2 and a half for this) and glue the fabric down CAREFULLY. Everything needs to be down and flat. You may burn your fingers doing this, mind you.
-removed-
The following pictures are what my cardboard looked like after it was glued:

-removed-

6. Now take the now painted and hopefuly dry Pocky boxes and put glue, LOTS of glue, on the back.
-removed-
If you want coverage ideas, here's one:
-removed-
7. Once the glue is dry or the boxes won't move, stand back and be glad you just made your own Pcoky kunai bag. =3
-removed-

While I have not completely finished this bag, you can make snaps for the front of the bag and it is a must that you get straps for you to wear this on your leg with either the snaps or velcro.

Have fun and good luck! =D

EDIT//
Quote:
Anyway, after much hard and endless hours of sreaching... -kicks Photobucket away- ... I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ANY. D: Unless someone saw me at Sakura Con, you won't be able to see it. Sorry!
apologizing for incomplete pictures, I still love you Rhapsodey-sama! X3 she did an amazing job with this tutorial (though I had to fix her spelling mistakes >>) all credit goes to Rhapsodey of =)

Scrolls!~

Spoiler:

1. supplies -- scisors, bulldog clip, possibally a large cutting buard, cement glue, small dowel rods (your disgression) and i used small wooden thread spools that the dowels fit in, and last but not least...a roll of paper, yes a roll...go to a craft store/drafting supply store.

2. cut the dowels to the sixe you'd want, me i made them big enough to fit into the pockets on my Kakashi Vest, but make sure to plan ahead by marking where the end caps will be so you can get the appropriate size.

3. this is where all hell broke loose for me...the cement glue insta dried on my fingers lol...but nehow... glue the endcaps (I used wood spools) onto the ends, ad let them dry.

4. while all the wood is drying cut the paper by unrolling it AS YOU CUT (if you need 2 cut)...this will take a pretty good amount of time but its worth it to have 1 sheet on the scroll not 150 sheets...when your a good few minuts into this check the wood, and if its dry put some glue on the rod in a line and take the end of the paper and hold it down on the glue for as long as comfortable, then add some glue to the opposite end of the rod, and wrap the paper around tightley and hold down there...whjen your done with that put glue on opposite side (where you put the 1st line) and wrap tightley, and hold down.

5. after all that glue-mania, begin wrapping tightley till you get to where you were cutting on the paper roll, and put a bulldog clip on it so as to stop it from unrolling, than continue cutting and rolling till your happy...

6. add a string or sumtin to hold it all together and your done...Happy...

dowels and spools.JPG

put the spool on and add more glue to holes.JPG

let the cement glue dry.JPG

cutting the paper roll in half.JPG

Tips:
- this is all at your disgression so have fun with it
- my paper roll was too wide, so as i was unrolling it i was using my large cutting board to cut it in half while unrolling it so ican make 2 at a time (it is a pain in the beginning but it pays off...)
- DONT GET GLUE ON FINGERS lol...
- listen to loud music lol

Quote:
Hi Ya'll, this is my 1st tutorial, and im gonna be teach'n you how to make Scrolls like in Naruto, and all the pictures are at the bottom after the instructions...good luck and have fun.

I apologize for any spelling/grammatical errors I might have missed or if the picture links did not work
Its currently 5:00AM here and i haven't slept in 3 days >> please be patient with me <3

Ninja sandals/shoes tutorial

Spoiler:

Step 1: Supplies
-Scissors
-Sandals
-Hockey Tape
-Knee Length Athletic Socks

My Supplies: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals002.jpg

As you can see I used strapped sandals. Thong sandals would only work if you wanted to keep the thong (like sand village sandals). Flip-flops will technically work but really don’t look as good because the back tends to suck in to the overhang between your heel and the end of the sandal. The back strap provides support and keeps an even rise on the back. The tape should be the same color as the socks. The socks should be, but don’t absolutely have to be, long, which will be explained further later. Lots of the socks will have a logo on them but when it’s on the ankle or higher it won’t be any trouble.

Step 2: Creating the Base

The base is made by pulling the sock over top of the sandal.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals004.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals003.jpg

Obviously the bigger the socks that you got the easier this will be. However, the socks that I used in the pictures (the third time I made them) I used Size 6-8 Socks to cover size 13 sandals. They were a little shorter than I would have liked but it turned out well.

Step 3: Making the Cut

I’ve used the same sandals each time I’ve done this. I try to follow the line of the sandal to make the cut.

I marked it out here with a fabric pencil (optional, I only did this for the demo)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals005.jpg

From there I used scissors to cut across following the end of the sandal and the line I had drawn. Personally I just tuck my toes back and slice through but it would be much safer to take the sandals off before cutting anything. Whatever you’re comfortable with.

This is what it looked like after the cut:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals006.jpg

Step 4: Seal It Up

At this point the hockey tape is used seal the edges, keep it tight and keep it from fraying. The first place to tape is the top. Put tape the top of the sandal on the edge, wrapping it around to hold the sock to the sandal. It’s a little weird to explain so here’s a picture:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals007.jpg

The next place that needs to be taped is the other side left open by cut which is taped to the inside sole of the Sandal underneath where your toes would be. Another sample picture:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals009.jpg

This one wasn’t quite as neat as some of the other I’ve done but it works and you get the idea. For this part I have done it leaving the sandal on and taking them off. Wither way will work but leaving them on and having someone take it up for you works really well.

Step 5: Finish Up

Looking at the reference pictures you can see that there is a larger cuff at the ankles. This can be created by folding down the extra length of the socks down into that cuff. Obviously this is the solution to there being a logo on the sock if there is one. If you don’t have the extra long socks it won’t look bad but it’s possible that a few people will notice the missing Cuff.

YOU’RE DONE!

Hoorah! Sandals! Your finished product should look something like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals010.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals012.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals013.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sandals011.jpg

For me it’s never taken me more than half an hour to make these, I could probably do it in less than 10 minutes if I tried.

Tobi's mask! (originally by Shadow Kitsune of Cospaly.com)~
Spoiler:

Hey there, I'm going to show you how to create Uchiha Madara's (Tobi's) mask for your very own cosplaying/fun purposes! =)
I couldn't find any tutorials on the Internet that produced a semi-decent and overall STURDY mask so, I gave a shot and making my very own. And I hope I can atleast save a few angry souls who have had the same problem as I did.
I don't have pictures for each and every single step so, I'm going to do my best explaining the steps that don't have images. If you have any questions, please post or message me.
Please have patience upon making your mask because it took me a few days to actually finish this. It is a simple accessory, but it is a bit of a chore to do.
This is my first tutorial so, I hope you find this helpful in some way.

Completion time: 7 days (if you don't go without working on it for weeks like I did)
Difficulty level: ***
Approximate cost of purchased materials: $15-25

STEP 1~ The materials!
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/Photo105.jpg

Okay. First off, you'll need to get some materials!
At Michale's, I was wandering around to find something to make it out of. I found a papier mache mixture along with clay, called Cellucaly II. (I'm not sure what was wrong with the original...)
This stuff was only 5.99, because it was on clearance. It is very strong and is pretty ideal to work with, rather than newspaper and that home-made stuff.
you'll want to search for a color that is exactly, or similar, to the mask.
I had no luck at Michale's, so I found a good size bottle at Wal Mart for 79 cents, along with a pack of 3 big sponge brushes for 87 cents.
You'll want to get;

-Sponge brushes
-Celluclay II (or whatever you think you would think is best, but this is great to use)
-Lots of orange and (optional)black paint
-A very good metal filer
-Fine grade sandpaper (600-1500 works best)
-X-acto knife
-Package of balloons (your color choice) c:
-An old visor (preferably black)
-Scissors
-Towel
-Pencil
-Soft white eraser
-Bowl
-Hairdryer
-Small bottle of 'Krazy Glue' brand super glue
-Black ink brush pen (optional)
-Outdoor Workspace
-Patience
-Time

STEP 2~ Mixing the material

Start off by inflating the balloon to the right size of your face. Have someone there to tell you if it looks about the right size.
Try to keep it as close as you can. If you come off a little too big, no worries for you can file that down later.
Take a long, Rubbermaid or, whatever container and pour the entire package of Celluclay mixture along with a little water. Keep a cup of water next to you if it feels too hard. But do not add the entire thing all at once! The correct consistency should be that of clay. Not too hard but not like applesauce.
Knead like bread dough until you've mixed all of the dry and wet mixture together.
Take your balloon and place it on top of a cereal bowl to prevent it from rolling away or getting all over the ground.

STEP 3~ Putting the Clay On
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/Photo110.jpg

Take the clay and start putting on on the front of the balloon. Try not to get it to where it starts to curve too much like at the top or the sides. About halfway between the bowl should be good.
Try to smooth it as you go so you don't have to do so much work when sanding time comes.
Make sure you've got a nice size thickness (but not too thick) so it won't be too heavy for the balloon to support, but not too thin so when it comes time for you go to sand, it won't snap on you.

STEP 4~ The Dry Factor

After you think you have the right thickness and range of clay down on your balloon, this will take a couple days to somewhat dry. After three or four days, you can start sanding and cutting the eyehole. Each morning you wake up, you can give it a gentle poke depending on its level of dryness, to see how it's coming along.
Or, for the eager individual, you can wait two days and dry your mask with a hairdryer, though it may take a while and it probably will be suicide for your hairdryer.

You can now pop your balloon.

STEP 5~ Sanding!

Once you're ready, you can start sanding your mask to rid of any bumps, grooves, misshapen parts, or dips that could have occurred from drying.
You'll want a good metal filer to file the edges if you made it too big.
This step takes a long time because your mask is hard, but still damp because it's not completely dry. Be careful not to crack it or bend it during sanding.
You can use regular sandpaper (not the fine grade kind yet) to sand any flaws.
After hours of arm-tiring, wrist cracking sanding, you can lightly sketch an eyehole to roughly the size of a Snapple tea bottle lid. Or, if you don't have that, a decent size to see through.
This step takes the longest so be patient!

STEP 6~ Cutting the Eyehole

After you've sanded to your liking and sketched the eyehole, you can take the sharp X-acto knife and carefully cut a circle according to your size.
This step should be somewhat easy to cut because the mask is still wet in the center.
You will want to sand the edges where you just cut carefully so it's smooth and round.

STEP 7~ Sanding...again. *grumble*

After you have sanded, cut the eye hole, and sanded once again, you can now smooth out your mask!
My dad bought me fine grade smooth sandpaper that varies in smoothness levels depending on its number. The roughest of the two is 600, while the smoothest; 1500.
There could be higher and lower number levels but those are the only two I am aware of. You can pick those up at your local hardware store.
On to sanding...again.
This stuff is very, how should I put it, dusty when you sand.
Keep a rag or a paper towel to wipe your mask and your sandpaper often.
The mask should be noticeably smoother as time goes on. You can smooth wherever for as long as you like.

STEP 8~ Painting Your Work

Congratulations, you've got by most of the grunt work buy now!
But now you must paint and add those ever-important finishing touches.
After you finished sanding, you can get your paint(s) and brushes and start the fun painting part.
Coat your entire surface with three or more coats of orange. You might want to pick up a few bottles depending on the quality and quantity of paint you chose.
You can paint the inside if you want to, but I didn't because I really needed all the paint I could get for the outside.
After you've finished painting with the orange, let it dry for a while and come back to it either with black paint and a nice sized skinny paintbrush, or a nice black ink brush pen. But first; use a refrence picture of him [Tobi] so you can get as close to the picture as you can, and lightly sketch the swirl pattern.
I used the brush pen because I can't paint curved surfaces in a nice spiral worth a damn. Plus it stands out more than the paint because it won't dry a lighter black than the paint will.
I used a Copic medium brush black ink pen.
You also will want to carefully paint the ring inside of the eyehole.
And once you've let whatever you used for the lines dry, erase any stray pencil lines with the soft eraser. But be careful not to smudge your ink or paint.

STEP 9~ Attatching and Holding
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r235/Taivgami/Cosplay%20Tutorials/Photo120.jpg

Almost through! Bet you're sick of this thing already, huh? XD
Anyway, let us move onto how we're going about sticking this on your face.
Grab the visor, scissors, and Krazy Glue for this step.
Start by cutting the hat part off of your visor so all you have left is the band.
Now, put it into your mask and use a pencil to sketch in guide lines so you know and where to put it so it doesn't hang down too low, or is obstructing your veiw.
After you've lined it up inside of the mask, take the Krazy Glue and use as much as you can on this step. Put it on the front of the visor aswell as the sides of the visor and in inside of the mask. You will want to hold it and re-glue it a couple times just to make sure it will stay. Which it should, because mine is very sturdy.

STEP 10~ Congratulations~!
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r235/Taivgami/Cosplay%20Tutorials/Photo144.jpg

Well, it seems congratulations are in order. You just finished your mask! It was a little hard though, wasn't it? But in the end you have a great cosplaying mask that can be used again and again!
Thank you for letting my help you on your cosplay!
As always, good materials, good attitude, and happy cosplaying!

Extra: You can buy a sealant spray to make your mask shiny or protect it from rain after you've painted. But most cons are in the summer, and the spray I bought can cause wicked cancer.
So I threw it away.
But always use outdoors and with a mask!

super-easy fake cigarettes

Spoiler:
(please note that these are translations from a japanese cosplay magazine, so certain things might not make much sense) These are perfect for people too young to purchase real tobacco products! Just by adding a filter portion, you can make dozens of cigarettes for only a few bucks. The 100 yen shop has everything you need, too ~ so it's a great choice for people who love to cosplay on the cheap!

You'll Need:

-a brown envelope
-glue sticks (white)
-a box-cutter
-glue
-a cutter mat

Step 1 ~ Finda a glue stick the right size for a base
Glue sticks about 10cm long and 7.5mm thick are best. Opaque white gluesticks are ideal.

Step 2 ~ Cut a filter from the envelope
Cut a long strip the desired width of your cigarette's filter from the envelope using your cutter knife and mat. A plastic ruler will help you get a clean, straight line.

Step 3 ~ Glue the back of the filter
Choose a glue that will bond well with plastic to ensure the filter sticks to the glue stick without sliding.

Step 4 ~ Glue the filter on by wrapping
Wrap the filter tightly around the glue stick. Be sure to hold the glued portion securely too so it does't slide.

Step 5 ~ Use a magic marker to color the tip
Use a dappling of black and brown marker on the white end of the glue stick for the most realistic looking cigarette end!

(yeah the pic is a character from Durarara!! not NARUTO, but it gives the affect of a finished product, please dont kill me DX)
