Though, Naruto and Nagato have a little bit of Mary-Sue-ish qualities too, but definitely not as much as Saucy!

Shikamaru, over how easy it was for him to get Hidan, and how everything works out the way he wants. He also is the only character allowed to kill someone brutally for revenge, and still Kishimoto acts like he's some angel.

Also, Asuma. What other character that died has actually gotten to be avenged and live on in a baby? None.

Sasuke isn't a Sue. All Kishimoto ever does is berate the character and act like he's a monster for wanting to avenge his family but Kishimoto didn't care when Shikamaru wanted revenge.

Excuse me If I thought Naruto was supposed to be the main character.

[Edit: Eh, nevermind. Sasuke does get trashed a lot in battle. And, he did lose the curse seal, along with strength, when he fought Itachi.]

Sasuke is deffianly Mary-Sue. He pulles random jutsu's out of his butt. He should of died amny times in many fights. He is over powerd to much, he's like Itachi but better. :/

Naruto is just as bad. Naruto never losses, and when he is about to die he gets a power bost and then wins.

Sasuke's not a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu.

He's going blind, gets his butt kicked in every fight even if he DOES win, and has insane drawbacks from his MS abilities.

Danzou was too weak to be one. Plus he died.

Madara hasn't even DONE anything yet, so he can't be classed as a Mary-Sue.


KONOHAMARU totally is a Mary-Sue, though. >\ I mean, really.

Naruto and Sasuke have way too much plot importance, so they can't die. I think someone once said that Shounen protagonists are always extremely powerful, and Sasuke has to be equal with Naruto when it comes to strength, they're rivals.

...If what the Fandom thought effected Canon, then Sakura would be a MarySue feminist beyond repair, and there would be no MaleXFemale relationships, and Deidara would care. In my opinion, Hinata's not a MarySue, her flaws are her shyness, her lack of skill in the Gentle Fist style, and Masashi Kishimoto even stated he tried to design her like someone who's not "cool." But that's just me.

@ the people who say Sasuke isn't a Sue.

Why yes Sasuke is a main character (and arguably the main character with how things are going), but he's always being conveniently saved by someone before he gets killed, and he gets a lot of powerups. He gets powerups in almost every battle, often without having to work for them, unlike Naruto. For example, he mastered the Mangekyo Sharingan and has better Amaterasu control than Itachi who had the MS for several years, while Sasuke's had the MS for like, what, a week? And then he goes around spamming MS techniques, often simultaneously, and their drawback isn't as great as Itachi's.

If you read recent chapters, then you should know that Sasuke's Tsukuyomi completely fails when you compare it to Itachi's. And duh he's always getting saved, he can't die. But exactly, he needs saving. MarySues don't(Unless, of course, it's their romantic interest that's saving them). And besides, Naruto working more for his power-ups and Sasuke not working as hard for his kinda rebrings up the whole "Sasuke's a genius" and "Naruto's a talentless kid" thing. Sasuke was gifted with his talent and Naruto had to work for a lot of it. Kinda like Lee and Neji. Of course, Sasuke and Neji still had to work hard though.

Where is the work in gaining a new Susano'o? Suddenly gaining better Ammy control despite barely having used it before? Getting a new hawk summon out of nowhere? Stuff like those were totally random. Oh great Itachi has better Genjutsu, but Sasuke counters that by being able to use MS techniques at the same time.

And it's just that Sasuke gets saved in such.. nonsensical ways. Like in the Deidara fight for example. But that's what I think.

Replies in blue. As far as I'm concerned a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is someone who's overpowered with a tragic past and whatnot. Maybe that's not exactly the right term for him after all.

I understand where you're coming from and why you think that, but even so, I disagree.

Itachi had six-seven years to use his Mangekyou and go blind, Sasuke has had...one month so far?


And as far as tragic pasts go, MarySues are NEVER affected by them. They only have them for pity points and never reflect upon their past. Example, a girl is beaten and hated on by her family and her home town for who knows how many years. But when the Fanfic actually starts, she ends up with Canon characters in another village and has no problem trusting people, depsite the fact that she should probably associate strangers with painful memories. Sasuke's past affects him, and he acts realistically about it. But that's just my opinion.
