Why didn't Chiyo die when she sealed the shikaku in gaara when minato did?

Okay so i was bored tonight and decided to watch some disney xd reruns of shippuden and in one of the episodes, granny chiyo says that she was the one who sealed the shikaku into gaara. what i'm wondering though is how she survived it and minato, who was probably a way more powerful ninja, didn't survive sealing the kyuubi into naruto?

for one it was only the one tail as in the weakest and nine tails is the strongest
and she used a different tech she made herself
and minato use reaper death seal so yeah

The sealing jutsu is not fatal, only the reanimation jutsu, (according you what you have seen so far in the series).

Minato used Reaper Death Seal, which is a lot stronger, and also sacrifical.
Gaara had a weak one done, not Reaper Death seal; it should show in Naruto vs Gaara in the Original because Gaara was easily becoming the Shikaku

One-Tails= Weak
Nine-Tails= Mega Strong

Even with the Nine-tails the seal is weaking, that's how strong it is compared to the One-Tail; Gaara has a lot more control even with'a weak seal, this isn't a fact just obvious. [Updated on Manga]

because the jutsu used to seal the one tail was differant than the one minato used to seal the kyuubi.

Why didn't Chiyo die when she sealed the shikaku in gaara when minato did? because chiyo didn't do the sealing jutsu... the sealing jutsu did gaara's mother

oohhhh okay i see. chiyo and minato used different jutsus... sigh.. i wish minato could have lived though.

but i wonder why the nine-tails required the reaper death seal.. i guess because it was so incredibly strong..

and why was gaara's mother sacrificed for the shikaku sealing?? is that really true?

Yeah. I guess for each sealing, a sacrifice must be made. Like when Hiruzen used the death seal on himself for Oro's arms, he died using it, so did Minato when he used it on Naruto. Gaara's mom died, so Chiyo probably was able to seal Shukaku with ease; not to mention it was the weakest out of all tails.

And maybe it had to do with the fact that the Shukaku was already sealed into a... teapot was it? I think while Minato BaTtLeD the Nine-tails

Yeah, she was sacrificed.

Inside a Tea Kettle yes.
Then it was sealed into a Jinchuuriki who's name we don't know and from that person into Gaara.

Thing is Gaara and Naruto have a parallel story.
Naruto and Gaara are the same age so no surprise that each of them becoming a Jinchuuriki occured near the same time.

Her version of the sealing jutsu must not be fatal. Remember she says that different villages had different means by which they seal a tailed beast each with differant pros and cons. Minato's killed him but almost completely protected Naruto. Chiyo's did not kill her but Gaara's personality etc was more greatly effected by the tailed beast.

Actually, the answers given above are correct in many ways. I still don't know why everyone still thinks Minato used the death reaper seal to seal the nine-tails. We're not sure what sealing jutsu he used. He could of used a sealing tech he invented himself. We just don't know.

true. but it's probably something akin to the death reaper seal, if not the actual death reaper seal because either way he died for it.
