Why is Canada being screwed?

Have any of you noticed that for watching Shippuden Canada is kinda getting screwed? I mean we don't get it on TV yet and plus this site doesn't even stream it to us! I would rather come here or turn on the TV for my anime.

You wanna hear some real screwage? Canada didn't get the Shippuden movie on DVD! Best Buy, Future Shop and HMV all have no records of this movie (it doesn't exist in their databases, not even as a pre-order)! Only Amazon is selling it, and since it takes up to 12 days to ship, it's obvious that they're just importing copies from the States!

Now THAT'S screwed. Guess I'll just watch Naruto Shippuden: The Movie when my Amazon copy arrives in THREE WEEKS.

No one in Europe is getting it on TV, we have never been able to watch it on the site and for me at least, any manga whatsoever is damn hard to find. I would buy it if I could find it, but since it is a 45 minute drive for one measly shelf, I don't.

In quebec, they pass the Original naruto but its the french version on tv and its really meh -_-. They stop when Sasuke go to orochimaru. Always. they never pass this arc... But still they are many other webstie that allow us canadian to watch naruto...

I believe the complaints about Viz's poor distribution in Canada are well founded. Unlike Europe, Canada and the U.S. are very much tied together. When it comes to media (movies, TV, video games, etc.), Canada and the U.S. are treated as one market. Everything gets released on the same day in the same format, and there may as well be no border difference at all.

When some discrepancy like the removal of the online stream or the non-release of the movie happens, it's the same as if something were released in England, but not Ireland, or in Germany, but not Switzerland. The movie exists in the same format it should exist in our country, mere kilometers across the border, but they haven't bothered to ship any to our side. The online stream shows the exact same episodes as what are released on DVD here, but the U.S. gets to watch them for free online or on TV, whereas we have to pay $2/episode on iTunes or $8/episode on DVD to see the episodes at all.

Last year, both Naruto movies were delayed in Canada, and this time, everything points to Shippuden: The Movie not being available in Canada at all, except on iTunes. (I found one small national retailer called CD Plus that has a record of it, but never got any.) I'd forgive a delay of a week or two for the DVD to have a French description slapped onto the back of the case, but when no major national retailers even have a product listing for it, I feel shafted.

I can usually understand the reasons for why Canada gets screwed like this, but it's like watching your big brother get a sweet Christmas present while you don't get one at all. It hurts seeing someone so close to you, who lives their life in almost identical fashion, get treated to something that is denied to you.

If you want to order the DVDs online, Visa has these gift cards that can be used at the vast majority of online stores. That's how I buy stuff.
