“Wow…” They both said in unison.
“This explains why your memory sickness his so bad,” Akio said.
“Damn, I’ve never had it that bad!” Alex said. As we walked on, we heard a sound of flapping. We looked behind to see a flock just like Aviana, luckily, when they swooped down, I saw that they were just weak level 10’s and 9’s. As we easily tore through these birds, some stronger opponents immediately ambushed us. These guys were 7’s and 8’s. With some attacks we managed to take them out.
Over the hill we saw more and more people. This had to be set up. We bolted back to the base, but they were ahead of us as well. We needed to get to the high ground. As we threw a grappling hook up to a cliff, we easily went up and looked down. There were about 20 enemies below. In another cliff, 10 more Black Dawn members shot arrows and crossbow bolts at us.
The BDs at the bottom were climbing their way up. Some had already reached pretty high and we were using our scythes to jab them down. More archers were on the other cliffs and were getting pretty swarmed. My head still hurt, and I was a little unbalanced, but I was still fighting fine. We got shot sometimes in some non-vital areas, but they still hurt like heck.
Akio finally had enough and said, “I’m going to end this, guys. Swiftly walk on the heavens, Cursoribus,” His shaft glowed and changed shape. It had relics, jewels, and different furs tied to it. It also had a candy cane like design down the shaft. The blade hummed with energy and had a white tint.
His clothes seemed to change as he had some rings and jewelry on. He had leather gloves on and his skull was slightly red.
Suddenly, he disappeared and reappeared behind the archers and sliced them up with his insane fighting style. “Sorry!” He yelled out as he faked them out by teleporting wildly around them, slashing. We jumped down the cliff with the rope while slashing around at random BDs. However, as more reinforcements came along, we were getting pushed back more and more, until Akio yelled out to us, “Hey guys… can you stand back for a while?”
As we jumped back and climbed up, Akio disappeared and reappeared at extremely fast around the ground, slicing and dicing everything in sight. You would see a streak of red or white and in a blink it would be somewhere else. Things would be slashed up, and it was hard to believe that this guy was just a 7. With his rapid, crazy, and aggressive swinging, we almost died, but it quickly ended with all of their corpses fading away.
We continued on, but we heard a roar and the side of a mountain burst open with a giant, about 10 feet tall glowing with black energy. It seemed like a humanoid appearance except for its dog-like face. Its weapon of choice was a curved sword on one hand and spiked iron knuckles on the other. He let out a giant roar and punched at Akio.
Akio easily teleported out and attacked all around it, like a tornado of red and white that slashed rapidly around the golem, who had a giant 5 on its belly. It kept on standing up and only rarely ever hitting Akio. He saw us and threw his sword at us, which we easily dodged. Suddenly a clone of itself appeared and attacked us.
We rolled through its feet, stabbed and slashed at vitals, but this clone didn’t go down. I even managed to cut its throat but nothing happened. Its sword was deadly and fast, slicing clean through rocks while making cracks on the ground. We started cutting off limbs. It lost its sword arm but the blade just flew into his left arm. We cut off a leg and then he could still move around as quick as usual.
Alex managed to slice off its other leg and I cut off its head but STILL nothing ever happened. We sliced off its final arm and the sword just floated in the air with its torso used to bum rush us into a cliff wall. We figured that we had to destroy the main body, but helping Akio was out of the question. The weakness of his style was that if we got caught in it, then we’d be as dead as a door hinge.
We both lunged at the torso at the same time, chopping it into three pieces leaving only the sword to parry. It wasn’t easy fighting a flying sword because the number of moves it could make is endless. It flew back and sent some rocks tumbling down, and as we dodged them it started slashing wildly at us, giving us some pretty bad cuts, but nothing worse than we’ve seen before. The blade suddenly dropped as I saw Akio holding the dog-man’s fading head.
Suddenly, more creatures jumped down from the mountains. They weren’t human at all. They had thin bodies that were nimble and could easily maneuver between our attacks, however, we easily disposed of each of them. It wasn’t too easy when they group you, though. They would swarm us and chase us. We were exhausted and couldn’t take anymore. We rushed back toward the base to get some reinforcements to help us fight.
In the roof of the cave, we saw some more birds. I then noticed that they were they ones calling the enemies towards us. They would call, perch, and hide. I told Akio and he teleported up to a cliff face and jumped to slash them. He teleported in mid-air and spun around, skewering all of them, we had to report this finding back to the base at once.
As we made it back, Chase was waiting for us, as we quickly explained everything. He looked at the scroll and his face turned pale. I didn’t bother reading the scroll since I would bring it back to base where we would discuss it, but Chase looked scared and quickly got out a stamp and promoted us to Privates. ”I need to attend a war counsel meeting. Now.” He ran back into the base as fast as he could, looking like the world was going to end.
