Re: Movie Review: How was the last movie you saw?
House on Haunted Hill (1999): 2/10
This is probably the worst movie I have seen in years. It starts off pretty interesting and promising, but fails to deliver. There's one, ONE interesting death in the whole movie, and a few interesting near deaths. For the most part though, all deaths up to the last 15 minutes are done with knives and guns, in a haunted house, controlled by darkness. Yeah! And then when you finally get an interesting death, it repeats itself. I was hoping maybe everyone was on drugs, but it apparently was all real. The rest of this is a spoiler. The ending kills the movie. What I was hoping would have interesting ending with a true whodunit situation, was explained by supernatural bullshit. It was a lazy way of explaining the events. The characters weren't horrible, but none left a really lasting impression. The story sucked, the plot sucked, the character development sucked. The CGI animation was alright, the deaths sucked. The house was aright, until the end. Avoid this if you want a movie with an actual plot. Avoid this if you don't want supernatural explanations for deaths. Avoid it if you want an interesting death. This is only okay if you like gore and people walking mindlessly around a haunted house. Not even scary.
