Chapter Seventy-Nine: Disserrare: Genkaku Vero Potenza
Notes on Chapter Picture: Just a heads-up, for those who hadn't realized, this is what I was talking about, your "special" thing in this chapter. Anyways, occasionally, when I have time as well as money, I usually draw a Chapter Picture for the series, which is pretty much a Chapter Picture for a chapter. Anyways, the character portrayed in this Chapter Picture is Vatas, and as you can see, there was a small blank portion down below on the picture, cutting off part of his shoes. Just to help you imagine a bit how tall he is, add a paper line and a half to the shoe and there you go!
Also, it's a bit crappy, sorry, but I didn't had much time to draw it.
Note: The Q & A section starts after this chapter, precisely about tomorrow. Also, I was planning to write the chapter tomorrow, but I somehow got to write it earlier due to some events in my life. Anyways, let's start this...!
Patty sat on the shores of an island. After giving a prep talk to the Marine Yosuke Hirabank, he had used his Bunshi-Bunshi no Mi to swim up without being paralyzed due to the weaknesses of those that had eaten a Devil Fruit. Reaching to the shore of a seemingly uninhabited island, he took leisure to rest down on its soft sandy shores and watch the moving ocean waters while eating meat.
Behind Patty, who was sitting on the shores of the island, a forest thick with trees laid forty-five meters away from him. The trees were all tropical-type trees, each having a variety of fruits, particularly coconuts, on their leaves. As Patty ate his meat, his eyes drifted from one place to the other slowly and lazily. After consuming the last piece of meat, he sighed and tossed the leftover bone lazily into the ocean, landing with a small splash. Then, Patty suddenly collapsed, falling sprawled onto the sand. Sighing once again, he then put his arms under his head to lift it from the soft sand.
Glancing at the radiant stars above him in the night sky, Patty then murmured to himself, "Do you think I made the right choice, Ryohei-sama?"
An old man watched sternly as a young boy trained. The old man was clad in a simple black kimono, and had a stern look on his experienced face, accompanied by a long white hair from old age. Many scars were shown on the old man, just five alone on his face. He was sitting on a chair, a long sword sheathed in its scabbard leaned on him. "Come on, boy, you can do certainly better than that!"
The boy, breathing heavily, was completely sprawled on the floor, completely exhausted. He wore a simple bright red t-shirt, which was followed up in the under waist by black baggy pants. The boy's eyes were pitch black, and his face was young with experienced, accompanied with sleek black spiky hair. Next to the young boy was a wooden sword, which he was barely grasping on. The two, the boy and the elder, were in a dojo. Wooden walls surrounded them; the room was awfully simple with the exception of the training equipment and had a diameter of about sixty-three meters long.
Still breathing heavily, the boy glanced at the elder in return, yet offered no words of exchange. Sighing in frustration, the elderly man then stood up, holding his long sword in his hand. Slowly walking to where the young boy was, he then helped the young boy get up to his feet, and then said, "You have no future as a swordsman, I suggest you should just go and die in a ditch somewhere."
"Shut up!" the young boy yelled in return. The old man then sighed once again as he then spun around, facing the other direction. Slowly, he began to unsheathe his long blade from its scabbard. "Listen up, idiot apprentice, I have something for you to see." the old man said. The boy's ears seemed to suddenly perk up, as his eyes sparkled with new-found curiosity.
"Disserrare: Kenkaku Vero Potenza." the old man whispered to himself.
The young boy's eyes widened in a mixture of wonder and surprise as he suddenly felt a rush of cold air struck him, having been unleashed from the old man. As he was knocked down, he quickly got up to his knees and watched, extremely intrigued at what he saw.
"Listen here, idiot apprentice." the old man said as he and the boy sat down. Training was now over, having been well over a half hour since the elder had shown the boy his technique. Now rushing with questions, the boy asked his master various questions as the old man set two cups of china on the dojo floor. Pouring hot green tea in the two cups, he then picked one up and slowly drank it, while ignoring the young boy's questions. Mad, the young boy then grabbed a few blocks of ice from the nearby cup of ice and dropped in into his tea cup, cooling the hot green tea. He then set to drinking it quietly.
"See here, idiot apprentice, I know that you are interested in this technique of mine's. However..." the old man muttered as he sat his cup down onto the ground. "..I would like for you to swear to never use this technique, not at anytime in your life, regardless of the circumstances. Using this technique only just once will bring you a fatal curse."
Sorry, old man, looks like I can't keep my promises, no matter how much I swear to. Back then, and then now.
Vatas thought bitterly as he glanced at Miranda, who licked her lips. Immediately after saying so, a sudden rush of air shot out of him, flying outwards. After so, a sudden swirl of darkness began at cover Vatas, hiding him from sight. The swirl of darkness formed into a large column, as Miranda in return flew back a dozen meters, alerted. In the column of swirling darkness, Vatas closed his eyes, and then began concentrating. As he did so, he only heard the sound of the whistling wind.
It's now or never,
Miranda licked her fangs. Outside, unable to see Vatas due to the column of swirling darkness shielding him from view, Miranda then licked her red lips. I'm getting excited...
she realized as she then grinned, once again exposing her fangs. Meanwhile, her four clones hung in the air around her, all flying, yet not moving, each resuming in their position.
Then, abruptly, just after half of a minute, the column of swirling darkness suddenly suspended, as it completely ceased. Then suddenly, it began to vanish, as Miranda narrowed her eyes. She and her clones found themselves looking at Vatas, now holding two blades and garbed in a new outfit. Miranda then licked her fangs once again as she came to his right eye, where she saw a red scar and the eye completely pitch black with no pupil.
"Time to end this." Vatas murmured to himself as he closed his eyes. He immediately disappeared, as Miranda's eyes widened. He's fast!
she thought as she then heard a cry. Spinning around the opposite direction, Miranda glanced at Vatas, and behind him, her four clones, all each severely injured. "Now.." Vatas murmured as he then attempted to slash Miranda with an uppercut. Quickly, Miranda flew back, as Vatas began to lose altitude again. Vatas said nothing, as he then suddenly disappeared, reappearing behind Miranda, who tried to slice him with her Banpaia Tsume(Vampire Claws), only to slash thin air instead. He then reappeared upwards, then below her, and again and again in multiple directions, managing to create afterimages of himself.
Miranda smiled, as she then glanced to her left, where Vatas suddenly reappeared. Catching him by the neck with her hand, she then threw him down below, where he crashed into a nearby skyscraper, and through it. Immediately, after Vatas had crashed through the skyscraper, it suddenly began to collapse from the peer pressure, crumbling to rubble and dust.
"You can't beat me that easily, dear." Miranda said, smiling broadly.
To be continued..
