HST Chapter of the Week 17

Congratulations, HST, you've finally made up for last week's particularly slow plot advancement.

Chapter Summaries:
Spoiler:
Naruto:
Spoiler:
Sakura's admirer leaves her tent, disappointed, as Neji comes in. Neji and Sakura talk about the spy situation, but Sakura gets Neji to reveal himself by talking about Tonton's injury, who Neji assumes is human and not a pig. Sakura slams Neji to the ground in one blow, after which he reverts into a White Zetsu. Sakura figures out that Zetsu is using the chakra he absorbed from Alliance ninja and combining it with the Transformation Technique in order to make an exact copy of them. Sakura rushes to relay the message to HQ. Meanwhile, HQ is getting reports of many assassinations happening all over, and being unable to detect the enemy with sensors. Inoichi relays the report about the attackers being transformed White Zetsu, and Shikaku attempts to calm down and analyze the situation for a way to counter it. As he does this, A and Tsunade appear in front of Naruto and Killerbee, with A giving the stern order that they will not take another step further.

Bleach:
Spoiler:
Urahara tells the unseen Shinigami that once they put their Reiatsu into the device in front of them, it will be done. The Shinigami agrees and does so. Meanwhile, Orihime attempts to introduce herself to Ginjo, but he tells her to save it and "fix" Ichigo. Orihime sees Ichigo bleeding greatly and on the ground, and she rushes over to heal him. Ichigo notes that Chad must have called her here, and Chad enters the game, explaining that her powers would be necessary to continue. Ginjo calls out, and Chad tells Ginjo that they didn't come to back up Ichigo, proceeding to enter a special training room he asked Yukio to create. As Chad enters the room, he recalls Tsukishima's attack on Xcution's HQ, after which Tsukishima snuck behind Chad and cut through him. However, afterwards Chad was uninjured, just as Orihime had been. The environment in the room changes and Chad proclaims that he needs to become stronger as fast as possible in order to fight Tsukishima.

Ginjo remarks that Orihime's taking too slow to heal, and asks Ichigo if he's ready to fight again, which Ichigo confirms. Orihime urges them to wait, but Ginjo attacks, and in response Orihime puts up a shield. Ichigo yells that it's too dangerous, and Ginjo recognizes it as Santen Kesshun, expressing his surprise that Orihime believes it can stop his "Cross of Scaffold". Orihime tells him he's wrong, and Ginjo asks how as he strikes the shield. In an instant, the shield blocks his attack and creates an explosion of energy, forcing Ginjo to move back. Orihime states that the power is Shiten Koshun, and explains that when it recieves an attack, it will disperse the force as an explosion and return fire. Ginjo remarks that Orihime is sadistic, but Orihime simply tells him that if he doesn't want to get hurt, he shouldn't attack her when she tells him not to. Ichigo asks when Orihime learned to do that, and Orihime explains that she and Chad believed Ichigo would one day regain his powers. They swore when that time came, they would never fall behind again. Orihime tells Ichigo not to worry about them, and Ichigo thanks her and says he owes them one. Ichigo tells Ginjo to come at him again, and Ginjo obliges. In the Xcution headquarters, Yukio hits a button on his game device and a fast-forward image appears on the screen.

One Piece:
Spoiler:
As Vander Decken plots to marry Shirahoshi, Queen Otohime presents a petition to the people once again, this time with the approval of a Tenryubito. She intends to present the signatures at Reverie. Otohime urges people to sign, and in a short time the box becomes filled with signatures, and everyone in the crowd wants to put their papers in. Otohime cries with joy.

Days later, when people remain eager to add their papers, Otohime explains to her sons how Shirahoshi called the Sea Kings to Fishman Island. She explains that mermaids can communicate their feelings with fish, but none as large as the Sea Kings. She says there's a legend that every few centuries, a mermaid able to communicate with the Sea Kings is born, and that someone would come to guide that mermaid to change the world forever. The princes become amazed that Shirahoshi can do this, but Otohime also explains that Shirahoshi doesn't know about her power and can't control it, so if she were to recieve a big shock, the Sea Kings could accidently rampage. Otohime asks her sons to become strong warriors and protect Otohime, which they agree to do.

Suddenly, the box of signatures bursts into flames. As the soldiers clamor to find a way to put the fire out, Otohime is shot in broad daylight and collapses. The princes are shocked and go to their mother's aid, while in the midst of the chaos Vander Decken touches Shirahoshi. Otohime tries to comfort her kids, thanking the crowd for their signatures and saying that this was her fault. Otohime tells them not to be angry or hateful, and Shirahoshi begins to wail. In order to calm her down, the princes begin singing, and tell their mom they'll always protect their sister. Fukaboshi tells his mother that they will become great warriors and protect Shirahoshi, so she shouldn't worry. Then Otohime and her kids put their pinkies together as the crowd watches in tears.

Last Week's Results:
1. Naruto 539 "A Bloody Night!"/Bleach 448 "Loading To Lie" - 7 Votes Each
3. One Piece 625 "Uninherited Will" - 5 Votes
4. 3-Way Tie - 0 Votes

Voting policy:
In order to vote, it's recommended that you read at least two of the chapters. If you don't want to, you don't have to read all three (even though this option is encouraged), but if you only read one chapter and vote you're just screwing up the poll.

They've only slightly made up for it... Naruto beat out Bleach this week. It moved further with the temporary plot than Bleach did.

Amen to that.

One Piece was somewhat interesting with Otohime's death but her death as kinda plain but I get the US reference of her assassination.

With Bleach there wasn't much plot advancement but character development for Orohime and Chad.

A draw for me between Naruto and One Piece.

One Piece was more emotional whereas in Naruto the plot progressed significantly.

Otohime's death was a reference to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s death, since they were both assassinated in broad daylight. Also they shared the same ideologies of peaceful coexistence. That really touched me in a sensible way.

I found Naruto funnier, yet progressive in terms of plot. Although, this chapter was, somehow, predictable at least the plot moved.

One Piece again this week.

Re: HST Chapter of the Week 17

Naruto had a little progression. But all the progression was relatively boring and predictable, which messed up the chapter, in my mind. It was the worst Naruto chapter I've read, probably ever.

One Piece however, stayed true to its roots, providing backstory, progressing the plot, and remained relatively entertaining. So, as usual, One Piece gets my vote again.

I have not read the Bleach chapter. I would catch up, but even this Fullbring stuff is not interesting to me. Even though many others seem to enjoy it.

You really shouldn't be voting if your not reading all 3 Maikeru. It messes up the poles.

Anyways I enjoyed all 3 chapters this week. OP and Naruto were both predictable, but the comedy with KB was funny. It was also cool for Orihime to showcase a new technique.

This week I'm going with Naruto.

My policy is that you only have to have read two to vote. Some people just don't feel compelled to continue following every manga on a weekly basis, so as long as they read two of the chapters and pick the better, they're furthering the results. Half of voters who only read two chapters would probably stick with their vote upon reading the third, so the results are still accurate enough.

Whereas if you read one and vote for that you're undisputably biased and ruining the poll.

I would be voting for One Piece anyways, Bleach hasn't been all that good for me since the Ulquiorra fight. If Bleach would have kept me interested earlier, maybe I'd still be reading it.

It takes like 3 mintues max to get on the computer and read the manga on the internet. It really isn't that hard. Even if you hate the series, or don't care for it, you should have to read it in order to vote.

If you're just going to vote for OP every single time no matter what then you truely shouldn't be voting in the pole.

I'll vote when I want to and how I want to. I like One Piece more, I've liked every chapter more. The reason I vote for it every week is because I like it more every week.

See, you're already biased.

Biased is just another word for, "I like this more".

There's a reason I like it more.

That doesn't mean I'm gonna bother policing the polls and not allowing people who don't read all three to vote, which I can't do anyways since I can't set any poll restriction and can't make any user not vote. Nor do I even have a way of checking which voters haven't read all three aside from those that posted it in the thread itself.

And why should I have people read a series they know they don't like? It's not very likely that someone who doesn't like a series as a whole is going to pick that series' chapter over two other series that they already like. Besides that, in order to have voters keep that up, they would then have to follow the series that they don't like on a weekly basis, and I know I wouldn't do that.

Basically the work outweighs the reward. And for that matter, I'm fairly certain that reading two chapters and deciding which one is better is only hurting the poll as much as it is helping it.

I'm not totally biased either. I liked the Five Kage Summit more than the Luffy, Ace, Sabo Flashback. But, they weren't going on at the same time.

Now, if The World God Only Knows was in the poll, I might would vote for it over One Piece sometimes.

I like Bleach more, but I don't vote for it every week because the other chapters are clearly better in certain weeks.

Re: HST Chapter of the Week 17

The only time I've ever liked Naruto or Bleach more than One Piece, is when Naruto had the Five Kaage Summit, Itachi Pursuit, Soul Society and the fights up to Ulquiorra. With those, I liked them more than the Sabo Flashback. Though, I think I liked pretty much everything else in One Piece more. One Piece is my type of story, and the writer is consistently writing chapters that I enjoy every week.

It si simple, if someone clearly states that they don't read all 3 then don't count there vote. It takes 2 seconds to figure it out.

So, I just read the new Bleach chapter. I did like it more than the Naruto chapter. But I still enjoyed One Piece more.
