Because he is actually a nice guy. Just got a bit warped spending all that time with Orochimaru.

This is what I miss about him. One minute helps Konoha and the next he is going after Naruto. First he is telling his henchmen not to underestimate Naruto, and then he is mocking him.

His attitude always left you guessing. I am hoping with the clear indication that Kabuto led the Konoha ninja to Madara's hideout, Kabuto is returning to his old form.

I think Kabuto simply does as he feels. Sometimes he feels like being a helping hand and sometimes he feels like severing a hand. He does things on a whim.
Even more so than other villain in the series. Sasuke and Madara both obviously have an agenda. But I think Orochimaru did too. His agenda
was to master all the jutsu. Kabuto is also trying to do this but I think
it's really more in a way of he saw Orochimaru trying to accomplish such
a task and it looked interesting to him.

I felt it was part of his cover back then. But I think he has a greater scheme at work. He is certainly trying to play Madara but to what end we don't know yet. Kabuto is very smart and I think he might be just the kind of guy to get what he wants and be left alone.....like his scheme has nothing to do with the scope of Madara or Orchi's plans. More like something personal.

I think it is because initially, Kabuto was a nice guy. He, like a few said, had been warped and twisted by Orochimaru, he was initially just a medic, he would have been taught to care for people and help them if they are injured.

As he spent more time with Orochimaru he has slowly become more and more evil and twisted, then he integrated Oros' cells into himself and they began to corrupt him further.

It was because he is a nice guy, that's what I think, either that or he just decided to heal her because he thought she was hot :lol:.

I think it is to keep his character ambiguous. In the invasion of konoha arc, you don't know if he is really on orochimaru's side or not.

He also heals sakura when naruto injures her.

I think it's simply because, unlike most of the stories antagonists, he's NOT a villain. He's not exactly a good guy either, though. I honestly think he's on the gray of the KoTOR scale: He isn't going to go too far out of his way to help someone, but he won't got too far to hurt someone either. Healing Hinata quickly didn't make him lose much, so I guess he figured "Why not?".

It could be that he is a medical ninja and it sometimes affects his judgment on certain matters.

Like Kabuto said to Sakura when he healed her, he and the Leaf ninja share common enemies, at that point in time - Kabuto had no reason to harm a genin shinobi. But also, like sticky said - Kabuto seems to do what he feels, he does things on a whim. He also likes to get peoples trust first, so he can betray them later. Like he initially plans to do with Orochimaru, leading to do so with Sasori, and Sakura, and the Chunin Exam Proctors, Team 7 and now Madara.

Kabuto is one of the most interesting characters in the Narutoverse. You know he has an over all goal in what he has been doing, but the question really is, what is that goal? it appears that he helps the Leaf when it is convenient and suits his purpose, but that leaves the question as to what his purpose is.

We know he's really not all that interested in ruling the world, it just doesn't appear to be his style. We may assume that he wants to continue Orochimaru's goals, but then we question what are his goals?

The real end game question could be, does Kabuto turn out the be a hero in the end?
