Does Naruto need a custom weapon?
 

Watching Naruto fight lately has only served to remind me how lopsided his combat skills are.

He can either throw waves of ineffective shadow clones at you who can only attack with basic hand to hand combat, or he can try to peg you with one of his OHKO moves.

This unbalanced skillset has led to numerous instances where he can't seem to do anything against his foe. OHKO moves by their very nature can only be used properly as finishing moves during a scripted fight, so more often than not they will never be allowed to hit their intended target.

Alot of characters get caught in this trap where they are either cannon fodder or are godly, and that is a horribly restrictive way to portray a character in a story.


So I'm left with the feeling that Naruto desperatly needs something to round out his general fighting ability, so he can still put up an impressive fight without the moves being so overpowered that he is never allowed to actually hit anybody with it during normal fighting.

Right now Naruto's abilities include the shadow clones, an affinity towards Wind chakra, Rasengan variations, and Sage mode. Personally I think he needs to round out the wind chakra ability, and as we saw with Asuma an easy way to do that would be to give him some kind of special blade weapon.

I'm not neccessarily talking about a sword or anything, but even just a dagger than he can extend with a chakra wind blade would be an improvement. It would certainly lend itself better to a prolonged fight sequence with Sasuke (with his electrified sword) than any of his other combat abilities.

What do you guys think?

although the things Asuma had would have been perfect for him . . .

It'd be interesting if Naruto got his own unique kind of weapon. `!:)
Just...it would sort of change who he is.

I agree with you entirely, but I don't think he should have his own custom weapon. It might be cool for a bit, but soon enough it would just become one of his regular attacks. As for me, I think he should expand on his sage and wind techniques.

Also, does it piss anyone else off that rasengan became Naruto's answer to everything? In the movies, in fillers, even in scripted episodes. Hell, how many different random ones have been made up???

I don't think he really needs a custom weapon. He has been doing prefectly fine without one, but I think he will probably get a custom weapon at some point.

He needs Nine Tail Claws/Gloves that are made of Metal and can channel his Kyuubi Chakra through.

Your right. Since Naruto and Asuma have the same nature, Naruto could get a sword or something and let his wind chakra flow through it. It would cut through Sasuke's sword like it was butter!

Naruto would probably need a custom weapon. Something that suits his chakra, like previously stated.

I completely agree with, Rezeon. Every point he made, I feel the exact same way. Naruto with a weapon of his own would probably make the fight between him and Sasuke more interesting and exciting. Plus I'm getting a little tired of Shadow Clones and Rasengan attacks. Naruto needs something new. Sure he just mastered Sage Mode, but Sasuke gets new Techniques all the time. It wouldn't hurt for Naruto to get a small little boost like Wind Blades. Asuma's Wind Blades would be great for Naruto. It matches his Chakra Nature and he'd look cool using them. Thats pretty much all I find suitable for Naruto though.

A weapon built specifically for him would help a lot. I think it would be interesting for him to have something like that, but I kinda doubt its going to happen...maybe he should get some chakra blades like Asuma's.

You never know, it is highly speculated that naruto will get trained by KB sometime in the near future, so maybe the lopsidedness of his abilities will be solved a little bit then.

i think that he should have brass knuckles made with that special metal but when his chakras go in them a wind type of force surrounds his hands like a gountlet. I think this fits him because of his reckless street typeof fighting

I agree, Naruto always has a rasengan to solve every problem in seemingly every movie(Rainbow Rasengan, Rasengan against Haido, Rasengan against the ninja in Guardians of the Cresent Moon,Giant Rasengan against Mōryō in Naruto: Shippuden the Movie, Guts Rasengan
in the second Shippuden movie).

Well, Naruto DOES have a scroll containing a giant shuriken, but he hasn't used it since like....the bell training at the start of Shippuden.
