Tereya: A misplaced child.

Prologue; Darnassus The brisk spring air was warming up as the month of April passed. The trees were again flourishing with leaves and beautiful flowers were dotted around the bases of the thick trunks and the edges of ponds. The lake Darnassus was built on shimmered in the early morning light. The city was beautiful, especially at full moon. The white stone bridges, that linked the city to the bough of the eternals in the centre of the lake, were adorned with ivy. The temple of the Moon stood, partly sunken in the glittering lake, taller than the rest of the white stone buildings. Along the shores of the lake were the wooden buildings of the Cenarion Enclave, the Craftsmen’s Terrace and the Tradesmen's Terrace, between which small critters wandered, along with the large saber cats, ridden by the elves. The goddess, Elune, had blessed the elves with good fortune once again as business was thriving in the Tradesmen’s and Craftsmen’s Terraces, they were bustling with elves and the other races of the Alliance. Reala strolled toward the Cenarion Enclave, with her daughter Tereya. Tereya was a spitting image of her mother. They both had long, midnight blue hair and bright yellow eyes; the long ears of the elves and the same pale skin. Reala smiled gently, she was content with her life, even though she couldn't travel as much as she used to. Tereya lent over the side of the white stone bridge, reaching out for the water. "Tereya dear, you'll fall in," Reala laughed. Tereya ignored her mother and continued to stretch down toward the water. She was almost there, she wanted to catch some of the sparkles on the water. "Tereya, we're going to be late!" Reala said, in a firmer tone. "But Mama! I want a sparkle!" Tereya whined. "That's sunlight dear, now lets go," "Oh.." Tereya frowned. Tereya got up and followed her mother, trying to keep up with Reala's large strides. Tereya dragged her feet, occasionally stepping on her Reala's rich purple skirt, marking the hem with muddy footprints. Reala sighed, as much as she loved Tereya, she could be a real pain at times. The close circle of buildings that was the Cenarion enclave was littered with treants walking to and fro, and the lazy sabers lay on a grassy knoll, still not ready to greet the morning. "Tereya, wait here for me, I’ll be back in a minute" Reala smiled. Tereya nodded and grinned, before running off to stroke the large cats. Reala smiled and turned to the building behind her. this was the Druid's building, inside were many Druid trainers and the Arch Druid himself. She was here to speak to the Arch-Druid, Fandral Staghelm. Reala scaled the walkway nervously. She twisted her fingers into her dark blue hair and sighed. She had no idea why she'd been summoned, there was obviously something bad arousing. She could feel it. This was the calm before the storm. Once Tereya had finished poking and prodding the sleepy cats, she ambled over to the lake. The calm waters were clear and the wind gentle skimmed the surface, producing a chain of ripples. Tereya kneeled by the edge of the lake, and cupped the water in her hands and studied it. It began to ripple very fast. All the water in the lake did. The entire city was shaking. Tereya felt scared, she couldn't move. The water in her hands sloshed around, spilling on the ground. Panic rose, she needed to find her mother, but she still couldn't move. Screams pierced the rumbling sounds from beneath the ground. People began to flee toward the portal tree in Temple gardens. Everything was utter chaos! The tremors got more violent. Fissures cracked open with a great rumble. Trees collapsed onto other trees or onto crumpling buildings. The peaceful city had turned into a scene of destruction in a matter of minutes. Tereya backed away from the water’s edge as the lake began to thrash around violently. She was very frightened. Everything she knew had just changed. “Mama,” She whispered to herself. Tereya could barely hear her words over the roar of fissures opening and fierce waters. “Tereya!!!” A voice shouted as loudly as possible over the ruckus. Tereya’s head snapped in that direction. She expected to see her mother, but instead she saw a large black scorpion. It scuttled up to her. It made some noises, that could barely be heard, and motioned for Tereya to follow. The voice roared again over the destruction, “Tereya!!” She took hold of it’s tail, being careful of the point, and let it lead her. The scorpion scuttled around fissures and over fallen trees. Tereya followed, puffing heavily, she was becoming tired. In the distance she saw the portal tree glowing like a bright purple beacon. “Mama!!” She cried, smiling. Next to her stood a slightly taller, male elf. It was her Mother’s friend, Alaniaris. The scorpion was his loyal partner. “Tereya!!” Reala squealed at the top of her voice. Alaniaris chuckled to himself and patted Reala’s head. “I told you we’d find her,” He smiled. Reala pouted, glaring up at Alan with narrowed eyes. Tereya let go of the scorpion and began hurrying toward her mother over the fallen debris and the broken city. There was another crack. The ground split before her own feet. She toppled backwards and rolled toward a pit of red hot lava seeping upwards from the earth. She dug her hands into the ground to stop herself, but she still inched toward the bubbling pit. The edge was creeping closer, the bright melted rock seemed to be eager to claim it’s next victim. “Mama!!” Tereya yelled. She could feel her heart beats fluttering in her ears. Her wide eyes were fixated on the deep trench. She shook, each breath was quick. She could feel the heat searing the skin on her face. She tipped over the side, clinging desperately for her life. “Mama!” She called again. Her small fingers were tired, she couldn’t hold on anymore. Tereya felt like she was on fire. “Mama!!” Tereya called again, this time tears rolling down her cheeks. She let go. Tereya closed her eyes and fell toward the red bubbling river. “Hu!” She squealed, eyes snapping open. Her dress tightened, the collar latching around her windpipe before loosening again. The force lifted her away from the lava and toward the portal situated at the back of the temple gardens. Tereya looked up, but couldn’t see over her midnight blue fringe. It let her go, and Tereya fell again, but this time toward Alan. Who caught her. “Are you alright?” He asked concerned. Tereya nodded, she was still shaken. A purple bird dropped to the ground next to Tereya. It had rich purple feathers and strange long ears. The armour it wore was leathery, dyed red and yellow. It was adorned with symbols and charms, giving it an air of grace and kindness. The bird turned to face Tereya, and then disappeared in a cloud of white smoke. Standing in it’s place was Reala. Her face was white. Her eyes wide. She was just as shocked. Alan put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, “It’ll be fine, lets get to Shattrah, It’ll be safer there,” “But Alan, we’re going to have to come back here, thousands are going to be injured, I’ll be needed, I mean, I can’t stand to know that Tereya’s in danger!!” “We can leave her with someone we trust, we can visit her, she’ll be safe,” Alan replied, calmly. “Still Alan, what if something happens?!” Reala snapped, she had her hands buried in her hair, eyes wide, thinking of every possible situation. “Nothing will happen!” Alan sighed, he was beginning to get frustrated, if this portal was destroyed, they had no way of getting out. “Can’t we discuss this later?” Alan said firmly. “No! Tereya needs to be safe, you don’t know what it’s like Alan!! She’s my child, a part of me, if anything were to happen…” Reala shuddered and shook her head. Alan picked Tereya up and pushed Reala through the portal, following with Tereya. “Don’t do that!” Reala growled. “We’re going to Shattrah, now, come on,” Alan said, he was worrying now, not only about Reala, but the rest of their close knit friends, who were considered family, were they dead? “Alan,” Reala said sombrely, “I can feel a war coming, it’s going to be long, and thousands will die, I don’t want Tereya to grow up in that, so I’m sending her to her father,” “With What?” Alan asked, raising one long eyebrow. “I made a hearthstone when I was there,” Reala smiled, gently. Reala fumbled around for a piece of paper, she scrawled a quick message on it before rolling the scrap and handing it to Tereya. Who sat on the ground, unsure of what was happening. She had taken to picking grass and inspecting it closely. “Tereya, honey” Reala said gently. Tereya looked up as her mother smiled at her, although her bright eyes were filled with tears. “Tereya, don’t forget I love you okay? I’m doing this so you don’t get hurt,” Reala said, trying to keep the tears from her eyes. “Mama?” Tereya asked, she was confused, this was all too much for her small brain. “You’re going to go live with your daddy okay? You might get hurt here, you won’t hate me will you?” Reala frowned. Tereya shook her head violently, “I’ll come see you one day, Mama, won’t I?” Reala bit her lip and forced herself to spit out the lie, “Yes, one day,” “Bye Mama! Bye Alan!” Tereya smiled, hugging her mother and Alan. “Bye Terri, come back when you’re all grown up,” Alan smiled. “Bye Tereya, I love you, so much, don’t forget me,” Reala sniffed, she was crying now, and couldn’t stop. “Okay, like I taught you, channel it into your hands,” Reala smiled gently, placing a small stone in Tereya’s hand. Tereya nodded, feeling for the green power and bringing to her hands. Tereya looked up at her mother, who was crying on Alan’s shoulder. Before a black flash. Tereya opened her eyes to see six bright pink ones staring back. |

Re: Tereya: A misplaced child.
Can anyone come up with a better title? because it's |REALLLY lame
Chapter one: The Kuusou clan. There were two glassy, baby pink orbs gently staring, Two firey, hot pinks glaring viciously, and two gentle pinks blinking in surprise. Tereya curled in on herself, afraid. Gone were the forests of her home. Gone were the crumbling white stone buildings and the elegant wooden homes of the night elves. The delicate pink sky imprinted permanently with the moon had changed to a bright azure blue and was filled with fluffy white clouds. The hot pink eyes narrowed and came closer, "Who are you?!" A young female voice snapped. "T-Tereya," She whimpered, cowering away from the unfamiliar faces. "Suna-chan! You shouldn't shout at her like that," A gentler voice scolded. Two hands grabbed her shoulders and sat her up. "Kyo-chan, go get Kyaru!!" Someone said from behind her. The girl with the pupiless, glassy eyes nodded eagerly and ran down a small slope to a small house nearby. Tereya looked at the two remaining people. Suna-chan had shoulder length midnight blue hair, like her own. Her forehead was creased with anger, only increasing the vivid colour of her hot pink eyes. She wore a dark blue dress that had a basic flower pattern embroided on and plain sandals. Her small hands were curled into fists at her side and she complained to boy who stood next to her. She looked very mean. Tereya looked at the boy next. He was rolling his eyes and laughing at Suna-chan. He had the same midnight blue hair, but lighter pink eyes. He wore plainer attire, consisting of a navy shirt with two dragons entwined on the back and beige shorts. Catching her gaze he smiled. "W-where am i?" Tereya mumbled, her bottom lip trembling. "The Kuusou clan's village!" Renji grinned. A little sneak peek of chapter 2!!! Tereya cocked her head to the side, "Kuusou?" Renji nodded. Tsetsuna was facing away from them, pouting, she turned a little and focused her sharp gaze on Tereya. "What's with your ears, freak?" She spat. Tereya's eyes widened and she placed her hands on her long ears. "I-i'm a n-night elf," Tereya stuttered. Renji bent down next to her, "i think they're pretty cool" |

Chapter 2: Welcome To Hell!!
Renji bent down next to her, "i think they're pretty cool" "R-really? I-i mean, well, where i come from, lots of people are like me, with big ears," Tereya said eagerly, her dark, lemon coloured eyes brightening. Tsetsuna snorted and Renji shot her a glare. "Don't listen to Suna-chan, she's just selfish," Renji said, noticing Tereya's frown. Kyo-chan returned, with what looked like her older sister, they had the same shade of pink eyes and same face structure. Except, this girl had light blue hair and pupils. Behind the pair came an eldery woman, her face creased deeply as she saw the small, long-eared girl, sitting in the middle of a herb garden. "Oh my," The woman gasped, "Kyaru, dear, go take the children to the main house and send your uncle Yori over here," The tall girl smiled nervously back at the woman and nodded. She beckoned the other three to follow her. They ran up a slope that lead to a large house surrounded part way by a wall. Tereya stood up to follow them, but a firm hand was placed on her shoulder. "No dear, you can't go with them," She said, with what sounded like disgust. Tereya frowned even more, tears forming in her eyes. She didn't know what to do. Through her tear-blurred vision, she noticed the scrap of paper her mother had given her. Tereya scooped it up and held on it tightly. A man, dressed in navy robes, hurried down from the slopes, eyes wide. "R-Reala?!!" He yelled, as he ran across to Tereya. Tereya sniffed, shaking her head, but she held her piece of paper out to him, "Reala!!" She said forcefully. He looked at the note, reading it with concern. "Yori," The elderly woman hissed, "This child is hers isn't it? The elders aren't going to be happy, get rid of her now while you can," Tereya looked up at them, confused. "No! She is my own child, it's my duty to take care of her," Yori snapped back, clenching his teeth. His anger was like a raging dragon, he couldn't believe that his own family had said that about a child, they may not have liked Reala, but this girl, was merely a child! Yori scooped her up and carried her toward the main house. Tereya clung onto Yori, looking back at the woman, her greying hair was tied up into a neat bun on the back of her head. Her pink eyes were dark and looked almost like a furious red colour. Her fists were clenched tightly against her sides, her angry expression scared Tereya, and she buried her face into her father's robes and began to cry quietly. "It's alright, Tereya," He whispered softly. Tereya sniffed and rubbed her eyes. She was tired, so she closed her eyes and drifted off into a dreamland. There, the trees of Teldrassil stood tall and the goddess Elune gave her luck. She'd certainly need it over the next seven years. |
