War

Simple discussion. I read all these topics and see you guys giving your opinions on the subject.

But seriously, what do you know about war? None of you have ever experienced it first hand. None of you have ever seen how necassary it can be, and how out of hand it can also get.

What makes you think you have the right to question war?

It's true, it's called the Rules of Engagement, and we are the only country in the world that follows it. The only way you can shoot is if they raise their weapon at you, which is ridiculous since you can be killed long before reacting to that.

.50 cal can still be used, but only during extreme circumstances like an ambush. But this is for good reason since it would turn a head inside out....

As an american I feel OBLIGATED to have an opinion about any war the US enters into. It is the responsibility of every voter to ensure the government is working for it's people. It is also every voters responsibility to keep it's government in line.

I know I do not know the details of war, and so cannot (usually ) judge the actions of a soldier, but I feel an educated mind can judge the validity of the REASONS for a war, and whether or not we should send our servicemen out to fight for a given cause.

How long have you been in war? how long did you spend time in the war zone?

i have 5 friends that went to war, 3 marines and 2 army guys. 3 of them have gone twice to iraq and the first time that they came back they werent ... in the head yet, the second time it was different. All of them came back with different stories about what they did and how it was, only one of them said that they actually followed the Rules of Engagement, to an extent. You expect me to believe you that you actually follow this rules? The reason that i dont believe that is because it is very "dumb" to follow rules in war, specially the one that you described. I do not think that the population of the US is NOT updated FULLY to what is going on in iraq or on any other war that we are involved in, so knowing exactly if we break the rules won't ever make the headline news because it will get stopped before it reaches mainland.

I believe in war. Not in useless wars tho. And this one, to me, is a useless one.

Sometimes the rules can't be followed. Its your life or theirs. What are you gonna do, risk being shot and killed, or risk getting a court martial? I'd definitely prefer the court martial. But it all depends on your commander and if he enforces that stuff. RoE is the law, plain and simple. Marines tend not to follow it as much, hence why so many of them go to jail, and why they have the highest friendly fire rate compared to the other services combined.

People get trigger happy over there. Its a constant stressful adrenaline rush. I have spent a total of 6 months in actual war zones, lucky me. Some guys have been there for 3 years. But seriously, why do we follow rules that nobody else does? Honor? Let's let young men be killed because of honor, great.

I cant give my opinions on this war. It would be illegal for me to do so.

i don't question war. i just empathize to those that are on the frontlines of war (our brave soldiers). they're the one who suffer most but if you really look closely its not their war to fight. they're just pawns. all the major wars are wars for economic gains of those few who sits comfortably in their mansions and smoke cigars as our brothers, low ranked soldiers risk their lives...suffer the cruelties of war. and i feel for those people who are living in the war zones...they got nowhere to go. and they got to see how everything in their life crumbles to dust.

oh i know it is illegal. that is why, in any other time, we would have been great friends.

I know people dont follow rules, especially in wars, so why do we have to?

to me you are a cool kid, no you are. but in life you have to learn. And war, to a good kid like you, it will not teach it.

again i use one of the quotes that i live by "It is a brave's man duty to live for his country or for his country die" it is true. we are nothing but population. Ill let them die, if i knew it was for the best of the rest.

but if your country is being run by businessmen who so uses the government to push their plans for economic gains. like creating war in the name of freedom, justice and democracy (but underneath, its all because of a huge military industrial complex who needs to save itself from goin down the drain by selling "war toys" to everybody, or its all because of oil and the greed to control it, or its a punishment for this country who disobeyed the "great one" by thinking and doing what's good for their own country). i think that is not the war that our brave men should fight for and die for.

and you don't have to be sorry to disagree with me. its your opinion and this is mine. :D

The leaders of a country are not the same as the leaders of an army, hence innocent people get killed. but whateverthefuck. sigh.
