UNS3 Changes and Character Nerfs/Buffs
 
A lot has changed between Generations and Storm 3 so I'd like to list these changes (Note: I'm only listed things that have changed not additions):

[Gameplay Changes]
Ninja Dash (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.pnghttp://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.png/http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...n-Button-X.pnghttp://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...n-Button-X.png) can now be cancelled into chakra shuriken or mid-air ninjutsu

Tilt ninja move cancel completely removed

Chakra dash does less damage on guard

Chakra dash has shorter hit-stun allowing characters to react after being dashed into

Double jump

Support characters have hp bars

Can no longer use ninja tools while blocking

Character specific "chakra shuriken" paper bombs no longer knockback

Substitution jutsu during ninja movement and chakra dashes now work? (Still need to do more testing with this)

Substitution jutsu will now move the player out of harms way usually to the side (eg. out of a combo or continuous jutsu sometimes! [I'm talking to you "Inferno Style: Flame Control"...])

Supports do not work while you're getting hit in a combo, since they get hit.

Team Ultimate Jutsus are instant once again

Support can be used during some awakenings

Guard supports will come out when your guard is broken

Combos are significantly shorter

Awakening actions

An Ougi substitute from a Balance support will actually kill the balance support

Chakra dash guard cancel is now instant

Relay Cancels

Rebound (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.png/http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...n-Button-X.png before hitting the ground) after strikeback is now possible

Side combos (<--/--> on the joystick) have been completely removed for all characters

I'm also trying to figure out how many people got nerfed/buffed in this game since there have been a lot of changes. So far what I've seen:

[Nerfs]

Hidan - "Jutsu" won't enter attack animation unless first hit connects and even then the animation has been shortened

Kakashi - Grab has longer startup?

Pain:
1) The Almighty Push will only hit once and will not continue to knock back for the entire duration anymore.
2) Tilt will push enemies out of the tilt allowing them to guard

Konan:
1) Combos are MUCH slower
2) Awakened jutsu has longer startup

Mei (Mizukage):
1) Can now only throw 2 ranged water spheres during her melee combo instead of 4.
2) Throw doesn't launch opponent into the air.

CTS/Kirin Sasuke:
1) Down combo no longer hits people back
2) Neutral combo no longer sends people into the air.
3) Dragon Flame Jutsu usually loses it's homing ability for the second flame

Karin - Jutsu nerf?

Orochimaru:
1) Tilt ninja move cancel potential completely removed
2) Awakening jutsu is now single hit

Shino:
1) Jutsu has shorter duration
2) Normal beetles no longer drain chakra

Sasuke (Susano'o) - Infinite combo loop with up combo removed.

Naruto (Sage Mode):
1) All of the old combo to ultimates are gone.
2) Air blasts and chakra air blasts as the 6-Tailed Kyuubi no long knockback the opponent.

Sasori:
1) Tilt damage has been significantly nerfed, does close to no damage at all
2) Awakened chakra shurikens no longer knock the opponent back

Masked Man - Jutsu does less damage to health and guard.

Ohnoki - Jutsu is weaker overall

PTS Neji - Jutsu is no longer a cinematic

Guy - Jutsu is no longer a cinematic

Chiyo - chakra shurikens for Chiyo is nerfed, the number of shurikens fall

Sage Mode Naruto - air combo has been cut in half

kimimaro - shuriken combo has been removed completely

Buffs]
Tenten - Awakening

(Goofy) Tobi - "Jutsu" mines seem to hit a lot more and do more damage overall

Guy - Awakening (could be considered a nerf or a buff as you can end up killing yourself). Takes 0 chakra to awaken.

CTS/Kirin Sasuke - Faster fireball

Kakazu - speed increase

Mei (Mizukage) - Tilt does a lot more damage and has slightly more range

Pain:
1) Chakra shuriken has longer hit-stun duration
2) Tilt: Crab has its own hitbox. Both players will be moved if the opponent's hitbox collides with his crab.

Tobirama Senju (2nd Hokage)
1) Jutsu has better tracking (Needs confirmation)
2) Awakening has 2 new sub-jutsus

Naruto (Sage Mode)
1) Combo strings are not cancelled if the first punch doesn't connect.
2) Chakra gun volley fires much faster.

Sasori - Combos, including awakened combo, are faster now

Hashirama Senju (The First Hokage) - Chakra auto-refills at a very fast rate while awakened.

Tsunade - Chakra recovery rate is dramatically increased (Can charge from empty to full in 1 second)

Kakazu - HELLA damage buffs

Kisame - combos are much faster

PTS Hinata - Attacks shave off opponent's chakra bar during awakening

Hinata - Attacks shave off opponent's chakra bar during awakening

PTS Neji - Attacks shave off opponent's chakra bar during awakening

Neji - Attacks shave off opponent's chakra bar during awakening

Kakashi - Lightning Beast Running Jutsu does a LOT more damage

Sakura - Sakura Banner (Knockback melee)

Lee - Hidden Lotus (Cinematic melee)

Tenten
1) Bashosen Wind scroll (Slow moving, good tracking, grounded tornado)
2) Bashosen Water scroll (Slow moving, great tracking, grounded water blast)

Tobi (War) - Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu (2 fast fireballs with poor tracking)

Masked Man - Transportation Ninjutsu (Most [All?] attacks will phase through him except for ultimate jutsu)

Kiba - Tunneling Fang (Akamaruis used as a projectile with decent speed, tracking and range that sends the opponent into the air)

Shino - Parasitic Insects: Feed (Normal moving projectile that will eat away a portion of opponents chakra meter as well as do small damage)

Hinata - Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists (Fast projectile with normal tracking that does normal damage)

Kakashi - Lightning Transmission (Hard to describe this one, but 2 Kakashi clones run towards opponent with a line of lightning between them putting the opponent on the ground and doing decent damage)

Yamato:
1) Wood Style: Domed Wall (Creates a decent sized wooden dome wall that will act as a shield. Will launch opponent into the air and do small damage if used near opponent)
2) Wood Style: Forest Destruction (Creates a mini forest structure that will knock opponent back doing good damage)

Guy:
1) Gate of Opening (Attack up, Defense up and Speed up buffs will be applied to Guy. Guy's HP will also drain a LOT faster after opening gate)
2) Gate of Closing (Removes buffs, intense hp drain effects and also begins recovering lost "red" life from opening gate (Keep mind mind that your hp will still drain after closing the gate))

Gaara - Swift Sand Spear Attack (Fast moving projectile with normal tracking)

Temari - Summon: Kamatari (Tornado surrounds Temari for approximately 2 seconds. Haven't explored this move so I'm not too sure what it does... however, I do know that it does pretty good damage and only hits within very close proximity)

Deidara - Detonating Clay: Lone Bird (A single exploding clay bird projectile that does normal damage and, I assume, has the same great tracking as the jutsu?)

The Second Hokage:
1) Water Style: Showers (Mei (The Mizukage)'s tilt. Water rains down on opponent granting a knockdown and normal damage)
2) Water Style: Water Shield (I assume this functions like Yagura's tilt deflecting shuriken, jutsu and granting a knockdown at close range)

The Third Hokage:
1) Water Style: Water Wall (The Second Hokage's jutsu)
2) Earth Style: Flowering Soil Bullets (Functions exactly like Sakon's support jutsu (The huge wall))

Minato - Flying Raijin: Level 2 (Projectile with very good tracking is thrown allowing Minato to teleport and use a Rasengan.)

Danzo - Izanagi (Gain one substitution jutsu)

Kakashi (Youth) - White Flash (Knockback melee attack)

Mifune - Absolute Inscription (Melee attack that does very good damage. Has a long startup)

Hanzo - Ibuse's Poison Fog (Close range fog attack that will poison opponent and do normal damage)

Haku - Secret Jutsu: Demonic Mirror Ice Wall (A shield is placed in front of Haku. Grants knockdown at close range)

Zabuza - Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu (Sends a water dragon after opponent faster than normal jutsu and does good damage)

Kabuto (Snake Cloak) - Snake Bearer Jutsu (Orochimaru's jutsu but it moves unnaturally fast! Able to hit 3 times)

Kabuto - Chakra Dissection Blade: Sever (3 strike melee attack that sends opponent into the air)

Darui - Lightning Style: Black Panther (A black panther of lightning runs towards opponent with amazing tracking and grants a knockback on hit)

Ōnoki (Third Tsuchikage)
1) Earth Style: Weighted Boulder Jutsu (Grants Attack and guard break up buffs)

2) Earth Style: Lightweight Boulder Jutsu (Grants Speed up buff)

Mei (Mizukage) - Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu (Exactly like Zabuza's jutsu)

CTS/Kirin Sasuke's Fireball is faster. His Down combo no longer hits people back.

Tenten regular combos and grab got nerfed along with her jutsu. Karin jutsu also got nerfed. Kakazu was buffed in speed

To me Tenten's jutsu looks like it got a buff, actually... how exactly has it been nerfed? And yes, her grab not initiating a strikeback anymore makes me sad :(

To me it looks like she throws out less and they cover less ground. They made her queen of metal balls hahaha put PTs Sakura on her team.

I'll agree with you there. Being able to throw it in mid-air makes me forgive them for this change though.

Also, what's up with her not throwing giant shuriken with her mid-air and neutral ranged combos? These had great tracking and strikeback potential!

I guess they thought she was too strong because of her high guard break. I would of liked it better if they kept those the same and lowered the guard damage and threw away the up combo for her side combo. Now she feels like she is too much of the same and not creative. Only thing that kinda saves her is her new awakening.

Although I have noticed the ball stay there for awhile and if u touch it like just walk on it I think it will damage u

Orochimaru has been heavily nerfed and is now among the lowest tiers in history. If he wasnt bad enough before now hes a joke! his combos are still usable but he lost a nice cinematic combo with the sword mouth. His tilt whether it connects or not leaves him wide open for a counter strike. The lack of instant awakening and awakening actions make his awakening perhaps the most useless in the game his white snake is easy to predict and leaves him open afterward .....R I P orochimaru .....cc2 has done him in and nerfed him to death. You can add him to the list !

Kisame, sigh ....his water clone combo animation has been erased...his upper combo where he creates a water wall has also been taken away....so he no longer has any cinematic combos. However his UJ is still effective and his awakening is still great and virtually unchanged. He is nerfed and can be added to the list as well.

Cloak sasuke has lost his famous upper fireball cinematic and it has been reduced to a jutsu type combo. His neutral combo ground sparks is gone. Other than that he is the same character .....not a bad nerf but he should be added as well.



hmph...I have a feeling I will be returning to this thread !

You can block in between one of Mei's combos. Not sure which one but its happened to me multiple times against the com.

OMG THIS!
I main (mained, I should say...) Mei in UNSGen but having multiple opponents simply jump out of my combo is the most frustrating thing ever. I think it's more to do with the changes made to the hit-stun system now since players are able to enter block string after some combos and chakra dashes.
It seems everyone I main has been nerfed...

I wouldn't call those nerfs to the chacracters per se... more like nerfs as a result of changes to the game itself. Same with what SagePain said.

Orochimaru is totally a main of mine and I know a major nerf when I see it. He has been reduced in every way and is no longer a main as a result lol. Its so bad that if I have a urge to play as him I would have to play gen again as he is no longer appealing to me for s3.

However I dont want people to get the wrong idea because many other characters are okay and many have been upgraded in a good way but orochimaru is a very low tier fighter now. Thats all I was saying.

You should add orochimaru to the list free water his tilt has been nerfed and he cant cancel out like he did in gen!!!

Well, like I said in the previous post, there are no direct nerfs to the character. It's not like CC2 said, let's nerf Orochimaru. The nerfs to the snake are all as a result of changes to the system.
I'll add him to the list if you can tell me specifically whether his jutsu is faster/slower, recovery time changes, etc. Other than that, he seems the same to me.

Never mind thanks for having me ! I think he's nerfed but if you dont want to add him I cant force you. His tilt is nothing like it was in gen and I think its a nerf. I mained him so I think I would know what im talking about lol anyhow I am done with this thread good bye.

Fine, I'll add him. You say you main him so you know what you're talking about. I was reluctant because I don't know exactly what to say has been nerfed since you weren't really specific. Is there anything that he does now differently that he never used to do?

Orochimaru jutsu was nerfed I think. I think it doesn't hit as many times. Also most chakra shuriken like chiyo shikamaru a and gaaras were nerfed

I am happy you added him I may hang around here after all since you were kind enough to hear me out....yeah let me be specific his tilt can no longer be ninja canceled out of and that hampers him a great deal since he cannot link his tilts to combos or jutsu anymore. In generations after he hits or even misses with his tilt he could still guard or move or even jump out of it but in now he has a much longer recovery time from it and is left wide open along with his all his jutsu....*sigh*

I would like you to try it in generation if you still have it you can see for yourself. I can no longer combine his tilt with combos or jutsu so that is why I am convinced he was degraded and now has a much lower tier ranking than before. In generations he was much more effective. I do understand that many of the changes are over all gameplay changes but for this guy he really suffered from those. I rate him next to hidan as far as impractical usability for competitive battles.

Tilt-ninja-move-cancelling has been completely removed from UNS3, as far as I'm aware, so, again, it is a gameplay change that indirectly relates to this character. I still added him to the list as it seems that many important gameplay element changes have hurt him more than other characters.

Mifune has something close to a Ninja Move Cancel tilt. He can exit out the tilt and keep fighting, he has very few open spots because of it.

it'll give players returning (from UNSG) a heads up on the changes of their characters. and give newer players info of what to expect from their characters.

this game is extremely match up heavy. i'm loving it. ^__^
