Faith in Humanity

Do you have any faith left in humanity? Why or why not?

Yes because I'm a human and you're a human and Maik is a human despite what he says and *long rant about other humans*

Re: Faith in Humanity

very very very very very very little.
Why? Because they do not live up to their potential, as a whole they have little respect for other species, they have little respect for the world around them, they waste their intellect on pointless things, they are selfish, arrogant, vain, manipulative, pitiful and they have such little comprehension of each other that it pains me to watch. I am not being a hypocrit all the above goes for myself aswell.

The very little faith comes from things like (stupidly enough) Derran Brown apocolypse when the man thought he could genuinly die and he still went back for the little girl. And some moments when you hear about someone putting themselves at risk to help others.

Re: Faith in Humanity

Humans do amazing things and awful things. Faith has numerous definitions. If faith here is being used in a similar fashion to the whole "faith in humanity" meme, then there are a lot of questions to ask. What would not having faith in humanity entail? Does it mean I think humans will destroy their own species? Does it mean I think we will become an amoral world of cruelty and suffering? Or does it just mean I think people will keep being assholes?

I don't have "complete confidence in" the human race but I don't think we're hopeless either. And some definitions of faith entail complete trust without evidence but that's not possible since our entire outlook on this question is based on our observations and interactions with others, thus we are basing our decision on evidence.

I haven't seen enough places, met enough people, learned enough information, shared enough experiences to judge humanity like the erudite reddit contributors, imgur users, youtubers and 9gagers.

But I'm human, my friends are human, and all the people I love are human ergo I'm gonna throw my lot in with humanity no matter how many jackasses I see. If we all seek the same thing in one form or another there must be some base form of understanding everyone can reach. At least that's what my faith says and Naruto. Big philosophical questions and tales of disgusting evil aside I guess I'm gonna go with yes. Even though I still am not completely sure what that entails.

Am I willing to take a leap of faith in hopes for Humanity to survive? No... We are becoming over populated and food becoming scarce... Water will be come the new oil.

Re: Faith in Humanity

I actually have very little faith left in humanity. It seems like humans are only concerned about themselves in general. We as a species have accomplished great things. However I wonder how much of that was only for personal gain instead of trying to better the lives of those around us. Nobody seems to care about the world in general anymore. Even christians think "well the world is going to go kablooey when God comes back, so why worry about it?'' Even those few people in society who you can trust seem to turn their backs on you. This applies to very close friends, even. I dont mean to sound misanthropic, egotistical or hipocritical. Its just my honest assessment.

'Even christians' implies they are different then the 1000s of other religions around.

I am a human and I have faith in myself. Therefore, I have faith in humanity in a way. :3

I have faith in myself. My faith in humanity effects nothing, but my actions do.

Yes.
What's the point of hating something that I'm apart of?
For every bad thing that happens, there is good.

Having no faith in something and hating something are two different things.
