Tobirama's Inspiration

After this chapter, we may have the reason why Tobirama created Edo Tensei in the first place.

We know that the 2nd Hokage wanted to do whatever possible to suppress the power of the Uchiha Clan, in order to prevent another Madara from ever appearing, hence he created the Police Force. But why end the precautions there?

He needed a back up.

The Uchiha's main weapon is their Kekkei Genkai, the Sharingan. We've seen the many abilities and forms of it, and the power it grants the wielder. Tobirama knew this. And he knew the Sharingan well, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to explain the process of the awakening of it.

He knew that traumatic events cause the awaken of the Sharingan and even more, the Mangekyou Sharingan. After realizing the greater power of the Mangekyou, he decided to create a jutsu to counteract it. However, not the Mangekyou directly, but its wielder.

He used Psychological Warfare.

Developing a jutsu that could bring the dead back to life could have a serious effect on some people, especially those who love so strongly, like those of the Uchiha. This is why he created Edo Tensei. To confuse the Uchiha, create emotional conflict, making them distraught... making them vulnerable.

Something along those lines anyway `:P

Most impressive. Sadly, I have my doubts as to the reasoning behind the jutsu to be that extensive, or even to be addressed at all.

I remember Vivi posting a theory about Tobirama's creation of the Edo Tensei. Was pretty fascinating.

If she did make a theory before this one, and included the same reasoning, then credit goes to her. But I haven't read her's or anyone else's theories on why Tobirama made Edo Tensei.

Who better to police the Uchiha than undead. Maybe that was in case one day, there were too many powerful Uchiha to boss. So he could send out whoever.

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

This isn't a bad theory at all. Makes a lot of sense and once seeing a dead loved one can really confuse the crap out of a person and help sort out situations.

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

Well, I just feel that minus the psychological benefit, Uchiha would make strong ninja to bring back anyway. The psychological aspect would just be a bonus.

But honestly, I don't think it's the case at all. But it coud be lost intranslation. The first thing to keep in mind is that If you look close, You can tell that what Tobirama is saying is not at all like what Oro is saying. If you read carefully, it looks like Oro is trying to pull a sales job on Sasuke. Tobirama says rebellious elements occured first, but Oro is trying to say he made the Uchiha a certain way. Then look how Hashirama immediately jumps in "Told you not to persecute them." I feel like he's falling for it, instead of Sasuke.

The second thing is that Tobirama died a while ago, but from his perspective, he says "senju and Uchiha have fought for a while, originally they were enemies. "originally," is the key word that illustrates Tobirama's perspective. It was that long ago for even Tobirama's time. They have issues now and again, But they were finally ready to coexist. Maybe he's racist too. But that is in the way he talks, not his decisions. But, I don't think those decisions were to screw the uchiha on purpose, let alone create ETs for psychological warfare against them.

If he was that openly racist, the Uchiha would have known about it for a while, and never agreed to Tobirama being hokage. Tobirama, wouldn't suddenly change after he became hokage either . That would be assuming he would hide his true feelings because he planned on being hokage after his brother.

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

That's not a bad theory. I have really been wondering for awhile why the 2nd created the Edo Tensei. Hopefully he'll actually say soon. I'll have to go back and Re-Read Vivi's thread with this new information from this chapter, to see if the theory still works.

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

I don't think so. If it was just meant as a weapon against the Uchiha then I think the consequences of it used by the wrong people were far too great. It may have been an order of some kind which he had to absolutely follow and didn't have a choice in...well time will reveal. Whichever way we look at it, he was aware of the jutsu's risks...

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

whatever it was the insprition of the purpose of inventing ET is INEXCSUABLE!

Afterall Hashirama said doing so is a NO-NO

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

I like this theory of why he created it. I think he may have learned it from a scroll left to him from the sage of six paths though. I am not sure why but why would the whirlpool people have the mask???weren't they a direct linkage in the chain back to sosp?

Re: Tobirama's Inspiration

@Hyuuga Heir. Your idea would be kinda right if Madara is defeated by one of the four ET Hokage!!

Also, if now the fate of the battle is decided by the ET Hokage; what if it was revealed to Tobirama that a technique like Edo Tensei is vital to bring peace...

How about what a kunai is for? Like most mundane ninja weapons in Naruto, the thing is practically useless, unless it's used as a teleportation focus or a paper bomb delivery device (which only rarely works as planned).
