When do you think Akatsuki was the strongest; before or after the fall of Pain?

Location: Akatsuki hideout.
Knowledge: Much for those who have served together, none for Madara and limited for Kabuto.
Preparation: None.
Restrictions: None, all characters have maximum power (however, Kabuto may not summon an Edo Tensei army due to lack of preparation, and Zetsu has not yet created an army).

We can't say that the original Akatsuki was weak; I think that Pain should be able to hold out quite long against Madara, and Itachi was said to be almost as skilled as Pain.

But you are probably correct; the new Akatsuki would, in the end, defeat their predecessors.

Yes; there are no restrictions on character abilities except for the fact that none of them are prepared for battle.

Paths make no difference, Madara and Obito can use them, too.

Yeah Kabuto w/ Edo Tensei & Madara means the old team gets absolutely annihilated. I think they would put up a much better fight than the kages did against Madara though :lol:

However, I think it would be a much more interesting discussion without Madara and Kabuto involved. without those 2 I think it would be really interesting if obito had his 6 paths aswell, considering the old akatsuki took them all down.
If Pain had his 6 paths I would go with the old akatsuki personally with moderate casualties/losses.
I don't actually believe Karin, Suigetsu, Juugo or Sasuke could do anything against pain & the old Akatsuki together, this is of course if Madara & Edo Tensei (Kabuto) wasn't included

This is basically madara vs old akatsuki.Take him out and its not even a challenge for the oldies.

well then he has chakra and stamina,which is quickly drained by perfect susano'o and he doesn't have wood style cuz he only got it after "modifications" kabuto did.

Even without Edos, Current Akatsuki will beat them.
Zaetsu can delay time to suck chakra from everyone, Madara is a powerhouse, Obito has dimensional intangibility/warping, Sasuke has EMS, kabuto is hax in his own right, and then the rest of Taka can provide support.

Obito warps Nagato and lols @ them.
Madara destorys Itachi because Itachi's genjutsu can't work against Madara's EMS/Rinnegan.
Then both Madara and Sasuke go Susano'o and ciao.

3 of them can take on the original Akatsuki.
