Competitive Pokemon Tournament! RULES & SUMBISSION

Hello Pokemon fans and battlers!
Welcome to the Competitive Pokemon Battling Tournament!!

In this tournament, contestants will use their Pokemon battling skills in 6V6 Singles matches using Over Used Pokemon. Brackets will be Double Elimination, so if you lose once, you still get another chance to stay in the tournament.

We will be using Pokemon Online Simulator

OR

Pokemon Showdown in browser simulator.

The first option, PO, requires you to download and install the simulator, so if you do not feel like doing this, then just go with the second option that does not require any type of downloads or installation.

Please include your teams in your submission. If you do not want anyone else to see your teams, then just PM them to me.

A quick summery of the rules:

By the way, if you're new to Pokemon but want to give it a go anyway, a great place to start would be the smogon website.

A good list of Pokes to use.

For Pokemon Online go to this page and download and install it for whatever Operating System you use. (Windows, Mac,.....Linux)
If you are going to use Pokemon Online and need help, then I'll post up a guide for it.

If you do not want to download this, then just go to the Pokemon Showdown website.
Click choose name in the top right corner to log in. No registration is required, just type in a username.

Then go onto the team builder tab on the top left of the screen to start making your team.

Hit "New Team" to make your team, and make your format OU.

Then add pokemon and fill in what moves, items, etc. you want.
For the EVs, you can spread them out to the stats however you want, as long as they add up to no more that 508. Each stat can have a max of 252 EVs.
Example:

But BEFORE you make your team, PM it to me or post it here so that I can see if it is acceptable or not.

Great!:D

Right now, I'll have to leave with this brief explanation:

EV's and IV's are bonus stats. The more you have on a stat, the higher they will be.

I'll give you a more thorough explanation soon, when I can.

Re: Competitive Pokemon Tournament! RULES & SUMBISSION

ivs also effect hidden power type which can be a very important attack for some pokemon

Ah yes, how could I forget?

The full explanation:
Spoiler:

None of this is actually important for the tournament.
EV stands for Effort Value.
In the Pokemon games, when ever you beat a Pokemon you'll get EV points for a stat. For example if you beat a Jigglypuff, you'll get 2 HP EVs. Four EVs are equal to one stat point. So If you beat two Jigglypuffs and level up, you'll get +1 HP. Each stat can have a maximum of 255 EVs and each Pokemon can have 510 EVs
IV's stand for individual values. Pokemon are just naturally "born" with them, and, if I recall correctly, you can get try to get the best IVs possible through selective breeding. And, as ILIKEPIE pointed out, they determine a pokemon's nature, which determines the move, hidden power's type.

I am going to go ahead and make the submission deadline December 17th. A week from tomorrow, so if you know anyone who would be interested in this, bring them over here!
These are not the deadline for team submissions. Just the deadline for entering the competition.
Is that okay with everyone.

Okay, great. :)

I also need all the entrants to state whether they will they will be using PO, PS, or both simulators, either by answering the poll or by posting with you teams here or in a PM.
Teams can easily be moved between simulators without having to remake them. I'll post a guide if anyone wants to know how to do that.

Re: Competitive Pokemon Tournament! RULES & SUMBISSION

Hey everyone. I'm starting to get some teams sent in to me, and I'm thinking about joining the tournament myself. I feel like it could be unfair for me to enter when I know everyone's teams, and so that no one gets suspicions about me making "perfect counters" to teams, I'll post my team right here.

We will be playing with team preview anyway, which means that you'll see your opponent's pokemon at the start of the match.
I am not going to memorize your moves, items, or anything. I'm only giving your teams a quick look just to see if everything is allowed, and never look at the PMs after that.

Now if you still think it's unfair for me to join, say so now, and I will refrain from entering to keep things fair.

What do you say? Would it be alright for me to join?
