Race/Ethnicity in Naruto
 

I was curious to what you guys think what race would you categorize each Naruto character

I like the fact that Naruto is so diverse and cultural!!


Gaara, Temari, Kankuro ----- Persians

Kakashi, Iruka ------ Japanese, Okinawa

Gai, Rock Lee ------- Korean

TenTen ------- Chinese

Sasuke, Itachi ------ Japanese, Tokyo

Hidan ------- Eastern European, Russian


what do you guys think? can you think of races for other characters?

Yeah same on Lee.. He seems a lot like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan haha :lol:

I just put Lee as Korean because his last name is Lee and koreans are known for their bowl cuts lol

Gai, Neji, Ten Ten and Rock Lee are all obviously chinese.

Giveaways:
Bruce Lee > Rock lee , not rocket science. He also uses tonfas.
Gai > Martial arts and Nunchucks
Neji > Tai chi quan obviously plus the flippin ying yang sign that appears every time hes about to gentle fist someone. Also fits here.
Ten Ten > Her clothes and who doesnt know the chinese weapon throwing female stereotype.

A,Bee,Darui, Omoi , Karui obviously african american. Why not just african? Because they rap and use pro-wrestling moves two things which pretty much blossomed in the U.S of A. There skin color is also much darker then then the most colored character in part 1 asuma. Plus A and bees conrows really cant miss those.

The majority of the konoha/Naruto characters are most likely just japanese. People like Oro, Hiruzen, Asuma, Kakashi,obito, shino, kiba and tohers fit here.

Kushina > Irish why? she walks and talks like a japanese. But no one i mean no one i japan has natural red hair. That more the scottish/irish ballpark (yes i do not know the difference)

Minato and Naruto > Nobody is convinced that they are japanese with those blue eyes and blonde hair. Aryan/caucasian could be from north-west-ish europe (germany,netherlands,France around that area).

I guess I agree with these picks the most. Although, I know it goes against typical anime style I wish mangaka would draw the eye folds on their characters, that would make this so much easier. They are nothing to be ashamed of, I don't know why we have to go about guessing what race / ethnicity a majority of Asian characters are. I tend to look for jet black hair and brown eyes but there are plenty of Caucasians with these features.

Names don't exactly work either considering almost everyone has a name with Asian influence.

Yeah this is the most obvious of the series. You forgot Samui (A's secretary). It kinda pissed me off to see several fans trying to find any other race they could be, same thing goes for Yoruichi, Tosen, and Halibel in Bleach. Dark skinned Asian, some sort of Latino, anything but black. Despite obvious hints from the authors and significant African American fan bases for both shows.

There are white people that live in South Africa and they consider themselves as South Africans

so yeah Samui can be considered as African as well.

Gai and Rock Lee are supposed to be Chinese as they are based off Bruce Lee and he is chinese.

Some Japanese are born with red hair naturally, it's rare but not non existent.

Look it up.
