love the 7 ninja swords men fights!

Edit: I get this odd feeling that the people who write these fillers really want Kakashi to have some sort of love interest in the story. The girl here, which is suppose to remind him of Rin, and then the other filler before the war with the woman from the "Hidden Lock" village. Anyone else getting that vibe?

I'll watch it on Saturday, but these filler arcs with the 7 swordsman and other Edo'd have been pretty good.

Okay, I sought out and joined a Naruto forum for the specific purpose of discussing this episode.

I thought it was absolutely TERRIBLY BAD...this badness is compounded by the fact that I think the mist swordsmen are really cool.

Fillers can be good, some can be a yawn, but I don't recall any that have annoyed me to the extent this one has.

I thought the 286-7 filler was good, but felt a little unfinished (does Rikage still have bug in his chest?). But take a look at how the animation style of 286-7 is very close to the regular Naruto stuff. Now, 288 has a very different style and it is quite jarring.

However I'd not hate it on that alone.

The whole 'oh no my eye...oh wait it's all better now' really annoyed me.

The whole fight scene (not flashback fight) seemed very simplistic and had nothing of Kakashi's feel to it.

The flashback was absolutely horrible though. The voice change really threw me. (Note, the voice change when we've seen all the other young Kakashi episodes never threw me, while it was different the pacing and phrasing were the same, or, for whatever reason, it wasn't that jarring)

Besides, the tri seemed far enough along into adulthood that they shouldn't have had to use different voices.

And ;););) was up with Mighty Guy's scarf? We've seen young Mighty Guy before and he was never wearing that thing. I know they were needing to give us visual clues that these were the past characters, but they could have come up with something a lot better (like maybe a hybrid costume for Kakashi containing some elements from his classic look plus some elements of his typical young Kakashi outfit)

As for the storyline, I get how Naruto is all about 'power of friendship' and all that stuff, but it just sounded bad for 'medium-young' Kakashi to be spouting it that directly and that early. This in a way weakens Naruto's character, personality, and mission if all sorts of Ninja have been believing this way for so long, rather than it being a revolutionary idea passed onto Naruto by Pervy Sage.

Plus I know Naruto has a lot of 'I just won't quit when my friends are on the line'...a trait that shows up in others as well (Hinata for instance) but this whole 'I think about my friends and now I get a chakra recharge!' just makes me want to gag.

Also, Mighty Guy is talking about how bad of shape they are in and how much of a tough spot etc etc, but does he ever open a single one of the eight gates? These are 2 of the reanimated 7 mist swordsmen

If you have read the manga you will know that Gai does wear a scarf at points when he was younger.

And at least they are giving us Kakashi vs Swordmen cos I know alot of people on the forum was hoping they would do something in the anime, since the part in the manga seemed like a cop out.

I did hate Kakahi's voice in the filler. From what I remember it is very different from the younger Kakashi in the episode with Obito and Rin.

I think he got smoke in his eyes from the explosions that the mist swordman used.
