Aurora Shooting Cause
 

I know it's been awhile, but what do you think was the cause of it? What caused him to do what he did?
I have two theories on it:
1) He was studying neuroscience and that sort of thing, so it's possible he decided to experiment with his brain and because he was interested in superheroes and the batman hype going around, he had become the Joker in his mind. As for the elaborate bombs that he shouldn't know how to do, the mind is full of capabilities, and if he got into that mindset of being the Joker, it's possible he also gained the knowledge of bombs and how to make them.
2) I decided to research on him some more and I found a couple interesting things. First off, he had texted a student about dysphoric mania, a type of a bi-polar disorder, and warned her to stay away from him because he was bad news. Well I went ahead and looked into the disorder more and what drugs are used to treat it, I found that a drug called olanzapine is one of the drugs used to treat it. What drew my attention on it, was that it could bring on delusions and hallucinations. So, it's possible if he was taking it, the drug had caused him to believe he was the Joker. The other thing I found interesting was that a claim was brought up that he was a psychiatric patient of the medical director of Anschutz's Student Mental Health Services. I tried looking into the program or whatever it's supposed to be, but I can't find much on it, so that's a bit odd to me. HOWEVER, the claim was dismissed and the judge had the information blacked out. That also is odd in my opinion...

Who cares what the cause is? He is a psycho that needs to be executed. In my book mental illness is not a valid excuse for murder.

Well, I know, but I'm one of those people that like to look at the why in things. Besides, if a pill is causing people do to this, don't you think they should discontinue it so it doesn't happen again?
This was a thread meant for people to try and dig into his brain a little, people who are interested in psychology and behavior and that sort of stuff. Or just want to know why.

Doesn't matter. In the end, ignorant people are always going to label off the movie as a scapegoat.
