Do Opening Songs Count as Viz Media?
 

Not the openings themselves but the songs. I wanted to use an opening song,but I don't want an infraction.

No, that's copyright infringement and wherever it is used will most likely get taken down by Viz Media and get you a copyright strike (if it's put on YouTube)

The songs are not copyrighted or licensed to viz and can be posted so long as they are not accompanied by any viz copyrighted images. If ashen infracts for that I'll bop him on the head and probably reverse the infraction.

If a Viz Admin would care to clarify on a yes or no it'd be appreciated, but otherwise I don't believe Viz holds ownership of the OP or ED songs themselves, so they should be fair game.

Of course, any additional anime footage that plays during the songs can and would affect whether we'd allow it or not. :lol:

While I'm not the ultimate authority on this anymore (comes with leaving for so long) I have talked to Srhyse about this one fairly extensively and can say with confidence it's allowed.

Unless viz decides to change their minds, which is possible but unlikely, they historically have never antagonized fans without a legal need.

It's like 2010 all over again no?
