Laptop Question
 

So if you're playing an MMO or something on your laptop and it constantly overheats, most likely due to it having a video card much more powerful then your laptop should use, how can I prevent the overheating?

I've tried turning down the graphics on it, but then it just looks like playing a DOS game.

Indeed, or get one of those lapfans. And make sure that it's like the only thing you are doing while you're playing. If you are doing other things it makes it overheat faster.

Well, I would suggest getting a different laptop, or upgrading your current one.

It's most likely because your computer isn't used to it.

It happens frequently with all systems. Such as my X-box. Until you upgrade it, put a fan on it at all times, and don't leave it on so it doesn't catch on fire.

Putting a lot of space under your laptop may help too i.e. prop it up with minimal surface area.

A four smallish blocks of wood may help, for example.

Do you have a cooling pad?

I have a cheap one for my laptop, but it works well enough.

I use a usb-powered cooling pad. This won't keep it from getting hot but will help slow down the rate at which it gets hot.

You have a vacuum with a hose on it? I had mine for a year and never cleared the dust from the fan and hell my laptop freaking burned my hand. :lol: So while it will still get warm, it won't overheat if you clear the exhaust fan using the vacuum. :3

Well I can have fans on all day. Wouldnt help matters. Even when you try the trick with one facing it, and one facing away.

Are sure they are working with the internal fans and not countering it? >.>

I'd try opening it up and cleaning out all the dust.

Do what Danielle showed, but prop it up with anything and then put your fans on it. :lol:

Also, they should make laptops Peltier cooled. Enough of these stupid fans.

- You could always have a fan going beside it whilst playing on it maybe even a window open or door to help.
- You could also get a laptop cooler.
- Turn the graphics on the game down usually helps it.
- If you are able to, get a stand that holds it up to help air it.
