Laptop Question
So if you're playing an MMO or something on your laptop and it constantly overheats, most likely due to it having a video card much more powerful then your laptop should use, how can I prevent the overheating?
I've tried turning down the graphics on it, but then it just looks like playing a DOS game. Yes this is not a question abuut the forum, but a tech help question. |
Re: Laptop Question
Put a monster fan on it.

Re: Laptop Question
Indeed, or get one of those lapfans. And make sure that it's like the only thing you are doing while you're playing. If you are doing other things it makes it overheat faster.

Re: Laptop Question
Well, I would suggest getting a different laptop, or upgrading your current one.
It's most likely because your computer isn't used to it. It happens frequently with all systems. Such as my X-box. Until you upgrade it, put a fan on it at all times, and don't leave it on so it doesn't catch on fire. |
Re: Laptop Question
Putting a lot of space under your laptop may help too i.e. prop it up with minimal surface area.
A four smallish blocks of wood may help, for example. |
Re: Laptop Question
Do you have a cooling pad?
I have a cheap one for my laptop, but it works well enough. |
Re: Laptop Question
LIKE A NEEDLE!
That'll work well with your rage induced button mashing. |
Re: Laptop Question
I use a usb-powered cooling pad. This won't keep it from getting hot but will help slow down the rate at which it gets hot.

Re: Laptop Question
You have a vacuum with a hose on it? I had mine for a year and never cleared the dust from the fan and hell my laptop freaking burned my hand. So while it will still get warm, it won't overheat if you clear the exhaust fan using the vacuum. :3

Re: Laptop Question
Well I can have fans on all day. Wouldnt help matters. Even when you try the trick with one facing it, and one facing away.
|
Re: Laptop Question
Get a PC?
|
Re: Laptop Question
Are sure they are working with the internal fans and not countering it? >.>
I'd try opening it up and cleaning out all the dust. |
Re: Laptop Question
You have tried something like this:

Re: Laptop Question
Do what Danielle showed, but prop it up with anything and then put your fans on it.
Also, they should make laptops Peltier cooled. Enough of these stupid fans. |
Re: Laptop Question
Why would you ever play those crappy MMO's?

- You could also get a laptop cooler. - Turn the graphics on the game down usually helps it. - If you are able to, get a stand that holds it up to help air it. |
Re: Laptop Question
Same thing happens when i play my MMO's. Although it's my laptop, 5 minutes..no, 1 minute on a table or desk and that things about to catch on fire. like a boss.

Re: Laptop Question
Maybe you can put it on a surface with holes on it so that it can "breathe"

Sooo my best advice to you,Answer (The question given) and get out. `;) Anyway, the topic wasn't on you. TheBlackChidori: /You Should get yourself a Laptop cooler. /Turning down the Graphics in the game helps, yes,But in some cases you could turn down your screen resolution.(I do that alot and it helps) `:P /If it seems possible you could always use an Open air place where the air easily enters in order to cool the laptop. `:D /Last but no means lease,DON'T PLAY THE GAME! Just kidding! |
Re: Laptop Question
I like the little stand you propped it on in the picture, where do you get that?
