What we need is a much larger open-world, like a blend between the first two. In the first game, the Leaf Village seemed massive but the only problem was it got very boring seeing as you couldn't leave it.

In the second game this aspect was vastly improved, but still it wasn't much fun walking along a pre-destined trail. You should have a huge open world to explore and complete missions. That would be fun and perfect.
