what about gaara's powers?

since gaara got his bijuu sucked out of him by the akatsuki wouldn't that mean his powers are gone too his he used the bijuu's powers?

We don't know for sure.

Garra can definitely move sand, as we see him lift Naruto's hand to shake it as they part. But the effect on his ultimate defense, chakra levels and control over the sand are unknown.

Well, he can still control sand. That's what we saw when he shook hands with Naruto, but we'll have to wait and see what his powers can really do now. Specially now in the manga since he's appearing again.

Those are his powers, he never transformed into the tailed beast or lost control.

Gaara still has sand powers. The only things he lost are the Automatic Sand Shield and his inability to sleep. In fact, Gaara should be better now that his biju's gone. He'll still have his eye rings though.

Nope. When a jinchuriki loses their biju, they can still keep their powers, but it's not as powerful.

he probably won't be able to use his shield quickly but he will still be able to manipulate sand
