Today's subject of debate: Alaska
More specifically, imagine if the U.S didn't buy Alaska from Russia in 1867.
What consequences do you think this would lead to? How would this have
affected the U.S, Russia and possibly the rest of the world? How would
it affect military strategy, politics, and economics of the countries?
Debate.
Sarah Palin wouldn't be able to see Russia from her house.
But the US would have definitely be at a disadvantage during the Cold War, of course.

If her house was in the same geographic location she would.
Actually she would then be in Russia.
Do you think it could lead to the U.S losing the Cold War?
Kreegah!!!

It would have meant Canada losing first. Since their greatest asset was canned in its prototyping phase, they'd be SOL before they could stitch their britches together. Still, all those laid off employees could now find comfort in infantry fodder roles...
Although that means USA's own defenses and even NASA would be nonexistent as we know them today.
Of course, it could be that holding out would cause a price drop and Canada then beats USA to the punch and becomes super-huge country of doom.
Or Russia would hold onto it and be grateful to have some useful land for once. Happy Russians mean no terrible Communisms. USA loses to Mexico in a new war and North America becomes the home of three countries: Mexico, Russian-Canada, and Brazil, which owns South America and all of Panama to the southern half of Belize.
All of that just by 1914.

The peeps at Yahoo answers thought that Alaska wasn't worth the cost.
Looks like the peeps at Yahoo answers were wrong.
(Though I imagine they are just hating on Alaska because of Palin. Which is a pretty stupid
reason to hate on Alaska if you ask me)

I don't know much about Canada, but it would have actually forced the United states to defend on their own continent.
