Ok, so I wrote this poem during 09's Spring semester for a poetry course. I have recently been going through some poems and trying to clean them up to send in for a portfolio as a part of my graduate school application. After reading Troubles' poem dedicated to people online, I thought I'd post a poem of mine that I wrote about a girl (how typical, right?) that I got to know a bit online. Still single now, as nothing happened, which I think that goes for the majority of online "relationships". But take it for what you will. NOTE: The word Lifanginence I made-up. So don't worry trying to understand it. The poem, I hope, gives you the feeling of what it means. You pronounce it as "L" "if" "an" "gin" "ence" I hope you all enjoy it.

The Phenomenon of Feelings
…Logging on.. …
Sounds picked up as audio frequencies;
Deciphered into words.
The microphone talks
And tells me its name is Sarah.
What do I do? What do I say?
I’m expected to respond with no delay.
I exclaim;
I am a Hermit Crab!
Sneaking out of my shell
When no ones around.
With an inner monologue
Like Kevin from the Wonder Years.
In reality, you’d never see me,
Because I’m a social chameleon
Who’s true color is boredom.
I treat movies like books!
Quoting them in conversations as if a scholar.
Afterwards, receiving condescending glances and looks
Leaving me left to wonder why I bother.
But when I look at the night sky
It all melts away, paralyzing me in awe.
Cause people say the stars are just
Billions, upon billions of hot balls of gas.
But I think, maybe it’s just God’s salt,
And he’s waiting to eat us.[1] (http://naruto.viz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97778#_ftn1)
-Anticipation-
-Tension-
-Fear-
My mind fly’s off
Getting whip-lashed by her laugh;
Vaporizing everything but joy
As she says,
I am a Phoenix!
Thought to be of legend and myth.
I stand here in the flesh
Telling you that I do exist.
Through out my life
Many try to tame me,
Claim me,
As if their own.
Unaware of the flickering fire
That grows till it’s too late,
They’re consumed by the flames.
Emerging from the ashes I fly off!
Just out of reach.
I can bring the sunshine
So lovingly warm and bright;
Growing life in my elegant light,
Making life seem so divine.
Or, I can have the fires of hell
Come falling down like rain.
Making Nostradamus look sane;
With the brand of anarchy I sell.
But be that as it may,
I just want to be.
Allowed to fly around free
Above anything said of me.
Lifanginence!
This faceless voice
Has become flesh.
Sending the voiceless faces,
Nameless skins under florescent lights,
To the leaves blowing about in the wind.
Lifanginence!
In every sense of the word.
Celebrating it in a dance
Around the house
When no ones home.
Lifanginence!
She’s become the air;
A siren in a plastic world.
To elaborate becomes redundant.
It’s Lifanginence after all!
…Logging off.. …
Statistical improbabilities rush in
Like loneliness downloaded by the heart
The sun shine and tornados from lifes wind
Miss the blooming butterflies start
But Sarahs light has shined on me
Helping these jaded eyes see
The first hand in hand
Like a snapshot of nostalgia
Implanted in the memory
Stopping short of a magnifying glass
I think
Its more than can be expected
For a crummy wireless connection
Shes given Lifanginence
And I can claim that its all mine
