Sauske and Fire elemental

You know, the more I've read about Sauske, I am a bit confused about his choice of jutsu development. While I understand the power he has over using lightning, it seems that his normal affinity should be to fire, meaning he should be able to do the most with the fire nature in his jutsu, yet i've rarely seen him use it, and up to this point now, never seen him use it, instead it appears that he's focused on lightning.

I suppose pushing onward it makes me wonder if he will end up using the fire nature more after he achieves EMS (which we assume he has or is). Just some random thoughts.

lightning is powerful, but I don't see it as any more powerful than any other element especially if you have an affinity to that chakra nature. Considering we know the Uchiha clan has an affinity to fire, it would make sense that he could do a lot more with the fire nature than lightning, except for the fact that he seems to be really focusing on lightning.

if you ask me the fire element is in his blood (uchiha) most likley because of the sharingan but his own personal affinity is lightning...in other words every1 in his clan has the fire element but each individual member has there own personal affinity be it lighting,water ect.

He uses it in moderation. Lightning has just been overall a little more useful in the context of some of his fights (ex. deactivated deidara's clay).

The way the chakra nature has been explained is quite simple, each individual has a primary way in which they can change the nature of chakra, as you progress up in knowledge and ability you can use other changes in nature which you may have an affinity for. However they will not be as powerful as the primary change in chakra nature which can be done. I suppose perhaps the lightning has its uses and all, but consider what he could have done with chidori, and if he could use that via his fire chakra nature.

Yes thats true..usually its not until you reach Jonin that you can be able to use at least two..
For Sasuke's sake he has a bloodline limit so he was born with two affinities..
Fire and Lightning in his case..and Fire is not necessarily his primary chakra nature..the whole clan having fire affinity does not predispose Fire as the primary chakra nature of every Uchiha..I agree with the point of the one who stated that here..

And I think that no he wouldnt be able to utilize Chidori with Fire chakra..
The reason being that its because of the lightning chakra that chidori is able to pierce through a target..

As to why Sasuke uses lightning based techs most of the time it because he has mastered it to a point where he doesnt even need hand seals to perform them..

he used fire once against Danzo's elephant summoning, and sometimes just for fun in battle. I guess the lightening element is quite usefull for his blade, and it also seems to stick on his hands when he wants to pierce someone. haven't seen someone using fire on his blade or slashing someone with it (yet).

but know, amaterasu is the highest fire jutsu in rank only possible with the sharingan, and the sharingan comes from the uchiha.. so there was always a link with the fire symbol (the fan representing the uchiha)

You would think we'd see more fire specialized moves coming from the Uchiha aside from the obvious that has been used. I understand the use of lightning blade! but the manipulation of fire into some more powerful techniques could out do that.
