Hope this won't get messed up.
But Zac Efron...really?
At best I wish he'd just play a Victim.
Worst possible choice if he acts as Light.

Wait wut... I know there is all ready a few live action in Japan. Plus a live death note joke (for the U.S) as been going around for years now. I guess it's real.... Oh and the link is a no-no.

Not sure I'm really looking forward to this in all honesty. I doubt the Hollywood remake will be that good. Just hoping that it doesn't give the series a bad name.. alot to ask for if they cast Zac Efron as Light..

I'm not upset Zac Efron is a possible actor for the role of Light. (Note Possible: The link did not specify that the role had been confirmed) I'm interested to see if Zac Efron is actually capable of portraying a darker side to someone with his acting. Of course, as others have said, the fact that he's often a nice good guy in his other films, series, TV movies and whatnot will make him excellent for the role of Light as a good guy; Light always hid himself behind a mask of innocence. Whether he can play what lies under that mask remains to be seen.
And yeah, Vivi, he does have the looks.

Technically a live action all ready came out in threaders, in the U.S. Though it was the Japanese version with subs or something.
The original manga was created in 2003 and adapted into a 37-episode anime that first aired in 2006. Kaneko directed the live-action adaptation, which hits select U.S. theaters Tuesday. It's a delightfully suspenseful 126 minutes for anyone who likes suspense, pretty Japanese boys or bad-ass female detectives. It's been nearly two years since the movie debuted in Japan, but this is the first time it's being shown in the United States outside the film-festival circuit.
