Either way, Madara wins with EMS and Rinnegan.Actually, that would be before the beginning of Shippuden. Kakashi Gaiden was well before the beginning of the Naruto series itself, not just Shippuden.

But we haven't seen anything of Nagato between Gaiden and Shippuden.

So my idea still stands.We have in flashbacks. In his flashback to Naruto, Nagato used a jutsu that sucked out people's souls, and in an earlier flashback from Jiraiya he used a wind release jutsu.

I disagree with Madara killing the most recent Nagato. But that's a different battle. With this Nagato, I think that Madara can win. This Nagato has only displayed that wind style jutsu and the soul sucking jutsu, as far as I can recall. Madara can avoid the wind jutsu using his intangibility, and he can avoid the soul sucking jutsu by doing the same thing. Izanagi may not work against the soul sucking jutsu, since Madara can't create an additional soul through Izanagi, so he probably can't re-appear once his only soul has been taken. Madara hasn't shown any EMS powers or Rinnegan powers that stand out yet, but with what he's shown I think he can win.
