Ok, as most of you know, the Elder Son of the Sage of the Six Paths inherited his eyes, while the Younger inherited his body and thus became the Uchiha and Senju. Now here is what is confusing me:

If Nagato is a descendent of the Uzumaki Clan which is a relative of the Senju Clan, then how could he have come to possess the Rinnegan if the Uchiha are the ones who inherited his eyes?

Hope you can understand what I'm asking.

the "eyes" is a metaphor, it doesn't have to literally mean eyes

The eye jutsu of the Uchiha and Hyuga are variants of the sage's, but the Rinnegan doesn't always appear as often. Or something like that.

But then why did the Rinnegan appear in a descendant from the Senju rather than the Uchiha? Maybe I'm reading too much into this. I apologize for my Ignorance.

no need for apologies thats what the forums are for `:)... but Madara said he gave Nagato the Rinnegan, so i think maybe Nagato is part Uchiha???

There are a few threads talking about his over in the town bookstore, though BEWARE OF SPOILERS..that is all!

I have been debating with a few people over this topic as well, there is a lot open to what could and could not be. Though I kinda seem to be by myself on my theory :-P SageKyuubi has the otherside of the theory and quite a few are hopin on his side.

Madara says that he gave Nagato the Rinnegan that's why after Nagato dies Madara tries to reclaim them after his death. So possibly the Uchiha clan inherited it and not the descendants of the Senju clan.

When Madara said "gave" I don't think he literally meant implanting them in Nagato. He probably meant having a part in the Rinnegan's awakening in Nagato.
