This is for the MVBG's Captains Tier List (http://mvbg.wikispaces.com/Captain). If the majority of people say Urahara wins, he'll be put at the top. (For now, at least.) If most people say he loses, he'll face off against Byakuya, and probably be placed between Byakuya and Shinji.
So, strictly BG Defaults, who wins?

His only claim to fame is a prep time assisted kido that took down Aizen. And schooling Yammy too, I suppose, but anyone worth two beans can do that.
Sakanade's the end of it.

Sakanade's the end of it.You don't think Urahara can get around it? Aizen was able to bypass its effect easily, and Urahara is more intelligent than Aizen. Even Aizen himself admitted so.

Problem being that even in the likely event that Urahara could bypass Sakande's effect, Shinji's still got better speed and damage dealing abilities.

That's most likely true, but what about Urahara's Bakudo combo? He can use Bakudo #61: Riku-jokoro without an incantation, and it requires no major movement on his part. If Shinji activates his Shikai and attacks Urahara, all Urahara has to do is react, for the most part. Then he effortlessly conjures Rikujokoro, perhaps not permanently restraining Shinji, but buying enough time to conjure up Bakudo #63: Sajo Sabaku. This could, in turn, buy Urahara enough time to conjure up Bakudo #79: Kuyo Shibari. All of which he can use without the need for an incantation. With Shinji completely immobile in a triple-layered Bakudo of the 61st level or higher, Urahara could probably use whatever offensive techniques he has to finish Shinji. Of course, there's the possibility Shinji can take down Urahara before Urahara manages. Urahara doesn't particularly have impressive tanking. However, if Shinji fails to kill Urahara initially, or if Urahara can react and respond in the proper time, he can use his Triple Bakudo Combo and defeat Shinji.
