actually ssj3 gotenks > super buu. he wasnt fighting seriously and was about kill super buu before he ran out of power.

nah gotenks stated twice he was about to finish super buu. super buu never said he was toying with the kids. we know he was waiting for gohan but that doesnt mean he could have beaten the kids.

cell said his kamehameha was going to bust the solar system it doesnt mean it wouldve, and the kids said they were going to finish kid buu in the ROSAT in his base form, and there was no way it couldve happenned.
the order of buus from strongest to weakest are
mr.buu>majin buu>evil buu>kid buu>>super buu>piccolo buu>>>>>>>>>gotenks buu>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>gohan buu

gotenks had been fighting super buu though. even with his arrogance he was sure it would finish him.

and you dont know if it would have better than cell did. toriyama wouldnt have him say it if it was wrong.

nappa said it was impossible that goku was stronger than him, i guess that was wrong too?
there is a thing called hyperbole, for example, in the beggining of naruto it said the 9 tailed fox can create tsunamis and flatten mountains with its tails alone, but in the story no such power was shown, he was held back by fodder ninja, and its strongest blast was barely a multi mountain buster
