The Five Great Mysteries of the Narutoverse.

The following is a list of the five biggest secrets of the Naruto universe as so deemed by myself, deidara330. While the Narutoverse has many secrets, none are so widely theorized upon or important to the story as these.

1. What is behind Madara's mask?
Okay, who here hasn't wondered for at least a minute what kind of secret could be hiding behind Madara's mask? Madara being the main antagonist automatically makes it the most plot-important secret of any of them, and it's recieved much popularity among the fanbase as well.

2. Who was in the Sixth Coffin that Kabuto summoned?
This event made Kabuto the second greatest living antagonist of the series, and since then Kabuto's become one of the greatest Naruto antagonists of all time. Plus, this completely shocked Madara, and itself led to more speculation on other mysteries. In addition to all that, this is very plot-important as it means Kabuto could turn on Madara whenever he wishes, which would be no less than one of the most important events of the current storyline.

3. Who or what is Zetsu?
This has probably been around longer than either of the preceeding mysteries, but in my opinion hasn't quite been as important or popularized as them. Zetsu resembles a Venus Fly-Trap type plant with a split personality, and he's always close by Madara. He can split himself in half, create spores, copy chakra, and he functions as the Akatsuki's entire army. The mystery of Zetsu is a great one indeed, especially since it's one of those things that definitely won't be revealed until towards the end of the story. Besides that, Zetsu is one of the longest living Akatsuki members. He's the third ever to make his debut and is one of the few who knew Madara's true identity from the moment he joined the Akatsuki.

4. Who or what are the Six Paths?
Some people insist it was a mistranslation of Sage of the Six Paths in the chapter the idea was introduced. My rebuttal to that is that even if it were a mistranslation, the Six Paths would still have to exist in some way in the Naruto world. This had a lot of buzz about it initially, and has led to theories on other aspects of the Narutoverse. Not to mention it gave new meaning to Madara's plans.

5. What was the power that Itachi gave Naruto?

SOLVED!
The power was the Genjutsu of Shisui Uchiha's Mangekyo Sharingan, known as Koto Amatsukami. Shisui gave Itachi his Mangekyo before he died, making him promise to protect the Leaf, and Itachi later implanted the eye into a crow. Itachi set it to come out of Naruto when Itachi's Mangekyo was seen, and to cast the order to "Protect Konoha". It was originally intended to be used on Sasuke once Sasuke had implanted his eyes, but Itachi was instead forced to use it on himself while under Kabuto's control. However, it allowed Itachi to break free of Kabuto's Edo Tensei, and Itachi is now a deadly ally for the Alliance.

Yeah, I forgot about this one. It is a great mystery, although not quite as big as Madara's mask, the sixth coffin, or Zetsu. It's recieved tons of attention from the fanbase, despite having recieved little attention from the story itself, and since it involves Naruto and Sasuke, that automatically makes it uber plot-important. Besides that, Itachi's one of the coolest characters ever.Note: Removed Yagura mystery and replaced it with Itachi's Gift mystery, which hath been solve-ed.

I'm rewatching the Chunin Exams right now, and remembering just how much it was hyped. How it was the Elder of the Sharingan, powers of perception greater than any doujutsu, blahblahblah. There's gotta be more secrets to it, after seeing how hax Sharingan became,

I'm starting to hope that now that the Land of Lightning is on close terms with Konoha, someone may spot the real Hizashi and know that the Hyuga and Konoha lied about killing the man who killed their Head Ninja. Drama is great.

@Black Chidori.....In my mind I guess byakugan just hasn't registered in the same category as the other two dojutsus, but come to think of it.....that's probably bc Kishi hasn't been hyping it since the Chunin Exams. You make me think........has this been on purpose? Is he planning to surprise us with some abilities that talk up byakugan like the other two dojutsu have been? Your right man, Byakugan was way to hyped out of the gate to just be left out of the plot. Especially the part about being Sharingan's elder. I think the anime even plainly stated that Sharingan was DERIVED from Byakugan didn't it?

Currently a Sharingan and a Rinnengan. Before it was two Sharingan.
We now know that Madara was using Izanagi, and now he has
Rinnengan he will have an even better Izanagi. We haven't seen
the bottom half of his face, but I imagine he will just look old.
A better mystery is Madara's space/time ability.

5. What exactly happened to Yagura during the time Madara was controlling him?
This one is pretty big. It's led to speculation about Zabuza, the series' first big antagonist, having a bigger role in the story. It's also led to speculation about the relationship between Madara and Shisui and even mystery 2 listed on this post. (Although I think most of that speculation was my own, but anyways.) This particular secret is also big because Yagura is the only Jinchuriki whose Biju roamed free at the beginning of the series. Madara is obviously connected in some way to this. Yagura himself has many smaller mysteries surrounding him that all connect to him and lead to others, so that makes it quite important to the story. The fact that we don't know anything about it so late into the story means it'll probably have relevance to the other remaining mysteries and plot, and that alone deserves credit.If I've left something out or there's another mystery you think is bigger, please let me know.

Well we see that Madara was controlling him. However we don't know how he was able to do that. Also with Ao vs Shisui, there's likely to somehow be a connection.

Hmm that is true. Danzo dad really want to get his hands on teh Byakugan.

We know Danzo and Madara had similar skills(with the 'two; paths) i.e. the Izanagi.
Thus, it is likely if Danzo wanted the byakugan, Madara wants it too. Afterall, Danzo wanted to control the Kyuubi.

We pretty much have seen how he looks like if you had in your memory all the moments we have seen parts of his face, including now. 1 sharingan 1 rinnegan, maybe another eye on the forhead thats why there is a hole in the mask. about the rest its just a old man.
About if its madara or madara using obito's body, to be honest I'll have to say its just madara because he have the EMS, that means "Imortality"

To make Madara so shocked it would probably be someone important and strong that Madara met before.
IMO it could be:
Izuna (his brother)
Orochimaru's real body (snake form thing)
Minato
Any other of the hokages except for Hashirama since what we have seen in the last chapters.

Srsly, I have no idea, either someone found out that Madara was controling Yagura, or Madara killed Yagura when he had no more use of him and the Sanbi was lose and went back to that lake.

you mean Hiashi lol its been a while. I can see a point where Hiashi (he will show the start up to some epic move) and Raikage i going to fight and tsunade and gaara will break them up.

How about the creation of Akatsuki. Konan said it was they, Konan, Nagato and Yahiko, who first established the organization but Madara said it was really he who started the organization. After all he claims that it was in fact him who gave Nagato the rinnegan. The details of the event is left unclear.
