Here is an FFFV group focused on old school Final Fantasy.

It works like this:
We choose a class
we can chnage the class but to do so you must master your first class by fighting 3 battles.it doesnt matter if you won or lost but you must fight 3 battles.Each class has its own ability and those abilitys can be transered over to another class as long as you have mastered the abilitys home class.
Example:say you have a ninja which has the ability throw.You wish to transfer throw to a different class such as the dragoon.after you have mastered the class if you havent already then you can just change classes and you will know the ability.



Classes are:
Warrior:
Ability:Advance(makes attacks deadlier)
Monk:
Ability:Reataliate(makes the monk able to witstand daage more effectively and can counterattack)

white mage:
Ability:lv. 7 White magic:(can cast Cure Cura Curaga Curaja protect poisana sight aero aeroga mini toad teleport blindna libra confuse silence raise stona haste Esuna reflect)

Black MAge:
Black Magic(can Cast Fire Fira Firaga Thunder Thundara Thundaga Blizzard lv. 7 Blizzara Blizzaga sleep blind poison break shade Raze Erase Bio Warp Quake Breakga Drain)

Red Mage:
lv. 5 White magic(can cast Cure Cura Curaga Aero Poisona sight mini toad Teleport blindna Libra confuse silence Raise protect)
lv. 5 Black MAgic(Fire Fira Thunder Thundara THundaga Blizzard Blizzara Blizzaga sleep blind poison break shade raze erase)
Thief: Ability:steal(can take a quarter of your money)

Have you precisely figured out a way these spells can be used efficiently in battle without overpowering or GM?

yes
really its easy
spells like fire (same go's for the other two)can be shot and if hit can cause and explosion(or hole in you or freezing depends on the spell of course).
other spells like cure can be used a multiple number of times but it wastes an ENTIRE turn.exception would be if you cast haste but that would take a turn out as well.when haste is cast you can cast two spells at once.so you could heal and protect in the same turn.so basically white magic takes an entire turn to preven GM while black magic can take as many turns as possible
though i have a rule for black magic.it can only be used a set number of times a turn depending on the spell.
so:
fire=5 times
fira= 3 times
firaga=1 time



so yeah
