View Full Version : Debate Competition

The other thread had become far too irrelevant/messy. Please excuse the repetitiveness.
Yes, it's a debating competition. (Now in session.)

The entire thread will focus on two Naruto characters, which will be extracted from two 'sections' of the series. One, a character involved with most if not all main events of Naruto, or directly tied to a very important portion of the plot, and two, a character not significantly apart of the main plot, one frequently excluded, if not, entirely excluded from certain parts of the series. In other words, a main character and a side-character will be selected. These two characters will be chosen according to the participants' predominate vote.

Twenty should apply for partake, of course it's first come, first serve.
To apply, respectively, simply request admission.

There is a quota of ten moderators, simply to be fair. Obviously that's half and half.

There will be ten teams in total, obviously employing teams of two.

Users are permitted to indicate whom they'd like to work with, and of course must receive positive feedback from their desired partner to become partners.

Each post should consist of at least eight lengthy sentences, approximately one paragraph-worth of writing. There is not a limit.

Posting may have intermissions of up to four days, strictly. Any tardy participant has to be disqualified immediately; it is unfair and rude to keep those who are willing waiting for extended periods of time.

Stay polite. No name-calling/ general rudeness is necessary in an intelligent, organized, well-thought-out and structured debate.

If an accord cannot be reached on any specific side-topic pertaining to the two characters, it should be left alone, disregarded, for the sake of the progression of the debate. We all know many here are incapable of settling to compromises, that's why this is absolutely necessary.

Any participant may withdraw from the debate at any time, but cannot rejoin.

Team posting order will be organized once prerequisites have been reached. Of course, each team will debate with one other team per round simultaneously. Remember who you're up against, obviously. There will be two rounds in total. The second round,(if there are zero withdraws) one team will consist of three people.

I reiterate, be kind.

Enjoy!

Offensive and messy is unattractive.

Posts don't make in attractive the original post does.

But it's okay, nothing bad.

Why do you insist on a debating competition when there's another one already here?

And want me to just delete the other thread?

Thank you for your help. If you'd like to partake, just ask. If not, have a good day.

For whatever reason I can no longer PM you.

Anyway.

If time is going to be excessively wasted waiting for the other competition to finish, then yes, this competition should be rendered a side-contest.

Also, a suggestion, is it possible to have separate contests, those strictly for mods, and those strictly for reg users?

The reason you cannot PM Kuromaki is because you do not have 15 posts yet.

Do you mean seperate contests as in, Mods from your contest or Mods in general? I think it would be better if you just let everyone do the same contest rather than splitting it up.

Actually, that's not why. I had the ability to PM him just a few minutes ago, before my previous post, then the site gave me trouble.

No, that's not what I meant. I'm waiting for Kuromaki to answer the question.

I'll be leaving now. Goodbye.

I think it's the lack of posts.

Well the other one starts in September, so this could be done before then. However, I don't think people would like contest spam. This will be the 3rd debating contest.

Why? It's better to have both mods and regular users debate.

You need 15 posts to be able to pm other users excluder Admins. (Users with green names.) Now. I guess I owe you an appology.

I'll admit I was out of line. If there is anything I can do to show my sincere appologies? If so, you name it. Perhaps we can turn over a new leaf?

(I had to post in this thread because he can't pm yet, sorry.)

Why should mods have their own? It makes more clutter out of what could of been in one tourney.

We only need 1 debate contest, and the other is obviously more organized. We already had a contest and have worked out msot of the bugs. I doubt this one would be very organized without proper planning.

Just check if morning tiger has anything new. If he has then add him as a contributor to the original thread and use his ideas as well. If he hasn't then just forget about this.

Why is there a quota of regular members and Moderators?

Apologies accepted... But, disregarding my own intentions, I can technically understand why were so offended. You had started a debate contest first, and apparently it was hours of hard work for you. Then you came across a user who generally...is not to be trusted on these forums anymore, and discovered his debate contest. I would have been quite angry as well... Anyway, I would be happy to "turn over a new leaf."

There's nothing you have to do in order to prove your genuine apology.
I'm simply glad this whole situation worked out.

I'm sorry this happened to begin with. Most likely my fault..

I'd rather not explain fully, as it will without doubt be construed as some sort of instigation.

However, I'll simply say it's half and half, and therefore, not harmful or beneficial to anyone, thus being one-hundred percent, fair.

Would you like to partake?

Well, being a moderator, I thought I might need to know, but if you do not feel like explaining, that's fine.

I'll join in for teh helluv it.

If you think that the moderators here have any special skills in debating and that's why, then you should merge them.

(That's not what I was referring to. I'd really rather not discuss this further. All that's important is, it's equal, fair.)

Edit: Why do you nominate dudemeister?

People aren't mods because of their debating skill. I'm not even above average really. That's why I asked the same question.
