Is there any kind of restrictions on this,or can it be used on anyone who has blood?

Only highly-skilled water benders can use blood bending (e.g. Hama and Katara). It also can only be used in the presence of a full moon, when water benders' bending abilities are at their peak.

I knew that much already.

Well, that's all the episode/series explained. There was not much more of an in-depth reason as to who can use blood bending, except that you have to be "special".

So does that mean she'd even use it on someone like Superman?

That's hard to say due to the fact that the two of them are from two different universes.

I would say anyone who has blood.

But being superman, he could possibly over power her.

Unless she caught Superman off guard.

Agreed.

Even if Hama were able to successfully use Bloodbending on someone like Superman, I doubt she would be strong enough to make him do anything he doesn't want to do.

And the question is whether or not she could use it on someone like Superman before getting punched into pieces.

Even if he was a universe away.

Isn't bending a manipulation of the natural and spiritual forces that surround us? Like how Aang is the Avatar, and thus the connector of the two worlds? If so, that probably means people with spiritual connections, like to the earth or something, could break out. Energy manipulators as well.

Then agains, blood bending may simply be about having enough control over your own body to break out of it.

If I'm wrong about something, please tell me. I'm not super into Avatar anymore.

bending is the manipulation of the said element simply put.
I call it a bit more rudimentary form elemental kinesis.

Blood bending manipulates the water in your blood and therefore you can control muscles as well and etc.

Rudimentary mind control in a way.

The only spirit thing is the energy bending. if I recall

She could certainly try...no guarantees on the success of such an attempt, though.

It can't beat anyone.
It can't beat reality benders, teleporters, massively fast characters, intangibles, and anyone who doesn't have blood.

No it can't, she has no way to hurt them, except throw then against the ground and trees.

Yes. But blood bending doesn't stop the victim from using ninjutsu/bending. It just controls their movements. And prevents good aim.

There is this matter of controlling blood vs physical and mental strength etc.

It effectively does prevent bending and ninjutsu, since most ninjutsu requires hand signs and most bending requires martial arts.

Not all ninjutsu

Shinra Tensei for example.

Hiraishin already prepped.

Madara's S/T technique.

What about this?

It's a liquid substance, so I'm sure it's possible.

That's why I said "most".;)

You should be able to resist Blood bending, if you're quite a bit stronger than a normal human being.

Manwe Sulimo
08-28-2010, 10:10 AM
Not necessarily. Katara demonstrated the power to cut steel, pull the water out of trees, and push around battleships. It'd take more than just being slightly superhuman in strength to break free of that.

I agree with that.

Her bending strength and prowess should be compared with the charater's physical strength and mental strength if possible such as psychokinesis.

Manwe Sulimo
08-28-2010, 10:18 PM
I don't think mental strength would have much to do with it short of using one's own control of water to resist (which is what Katara did to Hama).

Which is why I mentioned psychokinesis as an example.

Like Mewtwo for example?

Or someone with overwhelming hydrokinesis. Hydrokinesis usually is mentally manipulated.
