Throughout the first 50 chapters, (I'm new to One Piece) Zolo has only gotten wounded in the gut. Strange.

It's Zolo if you read the book instead of the scans. >.>
I guess because Zoro would be like Zorro and that could get ugly in a legal sort of way...

Zolo is 4Kids dub junk that was used in America. Whether people prefer it or not is not of much matter, but I can never really take anything from the 4Kids dub seriously.

The manga in America had Zolo to match the dub IIRC, but I thought they changed the name to Zoro in later chapters.

The Viz translations is horrible, I happen to pick up a Shonen Jump magazine and it changed Bon-chan to Bon Clay and Straw-chan to Straw guy...

Lol, I think they changed Jyabura to Jabra or something too, I found it funny to the point where it was actually pathetic.

I'll take Straw guy (though I think it's more often Straw hat)
over Straw-chan any day of the week.

Also it would be from Bon Kurei to Bon Clay not Bon-Chan to Bon Clay.
They're pronounced virtually the same and Clay is easier to say.

It's one thing to have a little culture in an English translation...

It's another to be like...

Luffy: I have my Nakama.

instead of

Luffy: I have my crew

(though neither is Viz's version the 2nd is likely to be closer to what Viz translates it to seeing how Viz usually translates to Nakama to either
meaning crew or shipmates. )

Zoro to Zolo is really not that big of a deal. Not to me at least.
