Ok alot of people have been disapointed with the recent animation in the Pain invasion arc, and most people have been angered by the animation in Shippuden episode 167.
I have a theory to why the animation hasn't been up to our standards.

Kishi probably wants to save as much money and time as he can. Why?
because of what happens after Invasion of Pain Arc
We all know Kishi loves Sasuke and Sasuke fighting the Kages and his fight with Danzo will be an important part of the story. So it would make sense that he'd save as much time and money for the animation for Sasuke Sasuke and more Sasuke
Maybe for the end of the invasion of Pain arc he will add better animation although 167 should have been important for him to make sure there will be good animation

So discuss your ideas and remember this is just my short theory

when did i say he's in love with sasuke BECAUSE of the kage summit?
Kishi isn't in LOVE with sasuke he just uses him to much and picks favorites :p Sasuke is his favorite and he loves him to pieces because of naruto itself not just the kage summit. :p

and what do you mean fans these days? its not like naruto is 20 years old jeez... :p don't think fans change that much

kishi has nothing to do with the anime and 167 looks fantastic.

Kishi does not control the anime. Why don't people understand this?

someone told me kishi did control the anime somehow guess they were wrong so Hayato Date (thats his name right) directs it without kishi then?

Pretty much. I don't think Kishimoto really does much of anything, if anything, involving the anime. And it's the artists who are to blame. The animation is fine, the art as of late isn't even close to Kishimoto's representations of the characters.

The animation wasnt THAT bad it wasnt like the previous animation so Pain looked really wierd in this one and so do Nine Tailed Naruto.....maybe they waned to make the action look intense and high speed and failed to make the animation good while doing so.

He has influence on it as obviosly he created Naruto and also he wouldn't want them to add in anything that he might reveal later in the manga. But he does not have direct control of it. The studio that produces it has control.

Does this show have really that low budget that it can't keep up its standards all the time?
I don't if ur theory is right, but i hope they fix the problem asap and stop making these mistakes again.

Yeah. Why can't he just drop Sasuke? Let him die or something. I know I'm gonna get hate but he's always all over Sasuke all the time. It's annoying to me.

Naruto's battles may be more exiting but they always make Sasuke battles more epic yet short yet awesome.

Im expecting a fine animation for 168.

As i see in the preview of Shippuuden 168, the animation/graphic
seems fine.

yes he is all over sasuke but sasuke is his story line if sasuke died out of nowhere he'd lose tons of fans and his story line would suck

care to explain why you feel its fine?
I am going to assume this was to have me elaborate on my thinking it is fine, so I will apologize for being vague and not being able to respond in a timely manner.

So to me I feel the animation is fine because I couldn't very well care about the animation, when I started getting into Naruto I wasn't even aware what manga was, and when it was put on hiatus I started reading it and from then on I was so compelled by the story that I just wanted to read it then watch it come to "life".

I love the story so much that I would be fine with them leaving it black and white and just have moving concept sketches with voice-over, I really think it is that good.

But in relation to the newest episode, while some of the characters looked a little different that usual I thought the animation was more fluid, the action seemed faster or more fast paced than previously; all in my opinion though.

I haven't had a chance to read the other opinions on why others don't like it or do, at the time I just thought it looked fine but remember what I said I would find acceptable(in my opinion). Again sorry for the lengthy time in response.

the episode looked amazing. slightly awkward art was only a result of how fast, intense, and awesome it was. this episode likely burnt a pretty big hole in the animation teams wallet.
