Upcoming change in how signatures work.

In an effort to do away with the new spambot tactic of putting spam in their signatures the following change in rules will be implemented some time in the next 2 weeks.

New accounts will not be able to use signatures at all until ONE of the following conditions are met.

5 posts (that count towards post count)
10 Reputation Points
30 days since account was made


If ANY of those conditions are met, you will be able to have a signature.

The forums will check these conditions hourly, so once you get the requirements, wait an hour before posting that it doesn't work.


Here is the part that affects most of you.

For the next week, the system will be checking and granting powers BEFORE we remove the ability from basic users. So log your account in, and then browse for a bit so the system checks you.

If you don't log in before this change goes down, you could lose your siggy temporarily, and I know a lot of you wouldn't want that.

Lolz, actually it is likely that it is only a small percentage of people who don't understand, it's just that most of the people who DO understand don't bother to post 'I understand' and therefore you end up with most of the replys pointing to the majority of users not understanding what is going on. However I can only imagine the frustration of having to repeat things thousands of times.

Yes. The site needs to recognize that you're online, then recognize that you have the permissions. This will happen as long as you're logged on; there is no need to log off then log back on again.

You won't. Unless you lose your siggy. Then you'll know it hasn't checked you in.

So the tell-tale sign that it's worked is that nothing has happened.

Basically, you have to be logged on for a few hours, once the forum reckognizes you, you will have siggy permissions again. There are certain requirements that you have to meet, but you have met them already, so I don't see why I would mention them.
