You were raised to defend the guilty, and protect people from accepting hard facts. You actually do them a disservice by trying to prevent people from pointing out that it is moronic to continue a pattern after being warned/infracted over 13 times.

Unless of course you are just arguing semantics over the word "stupid" in which cause you are just simplemindedly misguided, as stupid is one of the least offensive words we have for the condition of "not thinking things through, or not being able to see obvious consequences of actions." Dumb may be slightly nicer, depending on the area.
