ROLEPLAY CLOSED DUE TO LACK OF ACTIVITY
History:
The Great Northern War was a conflict fought in the early 18th century. Denmark-Norway, Poland, and Russia entered a tactical alliance to push back the advance of the Swedish Empire. The Swedish king, the great military leader Karl XI, had recently died from cancer and his son, Karl XII, had claimed the throne of Sweden only 15 years old. The alliance saw their opportunity and attacked Sweden from west, south, and east simultaneously. However, suddenly a large counterattack was met and the plan of taking Sweden with ease resulting in a devastating defeat, and the alliance was forced to the defensive. Norway fell quickly, as did the northern parts of Poland. Only Russia was unharmed, but in 1700 when they launched a new invasion attempt of Finland, the Swedish counterattack was so devastating that Sweden quickly could invade several provinces in western Russia. Plus, the Ottomans won great victories in the unprotected parts of Russia bordering Asia. Danish and Polish forces united and managed to halt the Swedish advance in central Europe, but they were still unable to attack. For 9 years, Sweden would destroy any opposition the alliance gave them, until the decisive Swedish defeat at Poltava, where Sweden was forced to the defensive. When the war ended, resulting officially in Swedish loss, the alliance countries would suffer greatly from financial problems while Sweden was still a very rich nation. Great Britain, Prussia, and France were also a part of the war, the two first against Sweden and the third mentioned for them. Despite all this opposition, Sweden went out of the war larger and richer than they had been at the beginning of the conflict, while all other parts were crushed economically and military.
Roleplay info:
The greatest mistake for Sweden was to attack Poltava, where the Russian Grand Army consisting of 65 000 men, plus 5 000 Danish and 15 000 Polish (totally 85 000 men), were located. Sweden had a force of 12 000 men, only infantry, and 5 000 Ukrainian and Turkish allies. When roleplaying as King Karl XII of Sweden, I will stop this from happening. In this roleplay, everyone gets a chance to change history. Can you help Sweden to conquer the Alliance, will you lead your own country to glory, or will you push back the Swedes and cause Alliance victory?
Rules (PLEASE READ. If there is anything you're wondering about, just ask me):
Joining this roleplay is easy: Just post what nation you want to join. The first one to join a nation automatically becomes its ruler; others can become officers or soldiers. If a country already has an active ruler, select one of the regiment classes you want to become. You can then, if you want to be a marine soldier, choose what ship class you want to work on. You cannot die in this roleplay, once the regiment you play as is defeated you will be unable to play for some time, and then start playing as a new regiment (you can still have the same class, if you want to). Multiple regiments can be united, adding their attack, defense, and siege abilities together and become even stronger. If you are a regiment, you must ask your king for permission before attacking. In combat, the attacking regiment's attack ability versus the defending regiment's defense ability decides the victor. Provinces in a country may be invaded at the king's request only, and before attempting to invade a country, please ask me and I will give you a more detailed list on the opposing faction's provinces. During a siege, the siege ability of the attacking regiment vs the besieged province's fort level decides the victor. If all provinces of a nation is captured, that nation is forced to surrender the war at any demands the victor has. If the capital is captured, the victor of the war will permanently gain the "favored tactic" bonus to themselves. "Favored tactic" is judged by the historical military behavior of that nation during this time. Most favored tactics gives a small permanent bonus to all regiments of that class. A charge is another type of ability that can be used at any time by any regiment. It increases the attack enough to make difference between victory and defeat, but also reduces the defensive ability. When the defensive ability reaches 0, the charge ability can no longer be used. Diplomacy can be performed in this roleplay. There are no rules for diplomacy, just improvise. You can propose alliances, declare war, or ask for peace to any other nation. If you want to, during the roleplay, you can research technology if you have enough money. Send me a message and I will tell you what technologies are currently available. Technologies are expensive, but can increase the strength of your armies, add increased income, or upgrade your regiment classes to a new epoch. The starting amount of money depends on the size of the nation; the more provinces you control the more money you get. More money can also be get by completing quests or waiting for the tax income. Tax income is gained every week. Since my online time is various, I can't give any specific date for tax income. Note: Only nations with a ruler will gain weekly income.
