how does he breathe his mask covers his mouth and nose
air can go through the fabric, i believe its much like breathing through your shirt, but maybe a bit easier

Most likely that the material his mask is made out of is probably light linen or cloth, which the thin layer of stitching would make it breathable to the one wearing it.
Then again, its not like he's the first person to wear a mask and not suffocate. For example, if you would take the sleeve of the shirt your wearing right now and put it over your mouth, are you able to breath through it? Now if you're wearing something made out of thick material like a hoodie or sweatshirt, then you shouldn't be able to due to its many layers of material. But if you try this instead with the sleeve of a T-shirt, then you should have no problem breathing in an out multiple times.

The fabric the mask is made out of must let him be able to breathe.
Either that, or Kakashi is an alien that doesn't breathe air.
Or it's a plot hole you aren't supposed to notice and/or think about.

u can still breath in some air if ure masked, its a little tough, this make me remember that Orochimaru sound ninja, his face is 75% covered with bandages, but then i guess bandages are thinner than masks, it really depends on the fabric itself

i think this has been in an episode or something explaining it but i think its meant to be hard to breath abit a first but hes gotten used to it therefore when he's on a mission, if hes in a place where he cannot breath that good then he will be used to it..
