Who should be the English voice actor for Danzo?

Now that's an interesting question, though I imagine by now someone has already been selected. A slight alteration from Orochimaru's voice work would probably sound pretty good, less slickness more dispassioned.

i think the guy who voices kenpaichi (sp) in bleach would be make a good danzo. he has a crazy yet smug voice that would work

I say that Danzo needs to sound at least AS beast as Steve Cramer does as the 3rd Hokage or even more beast. I'm not too particularly fond of Danzo's Japanese voice.
It just sounds like an old guy and not much else. Nothing inspiring about it and
I imagine Danzo as a very inspiring guy inspiring in the way that if you don't obey
orders he'll smack you silly. You can't have a weak voice for that kind of character.
I imagine him having a very rough voice. Someone who sounds like they are battle hardened.

I know they've already picked someone for him but this is just for fun until we gets news of who has been casted for him.

I agree the Japanesse voice isn't very good. An old guy voice is a bad idea, he shouldn't sound like the old advisors. I don't know if agree he should have a "strong" voice. I pictured it more as a soft spoken voice, but still leaves the impression of immense power. Something you have to lean forward to listen to, but you will because you have to. The perfect character I picture no one else will get, so instead something like Emperor Palpatine (the original of course, Ian McDiarmid). Now that I think about it, a slight British accent couldn't hurt.

Orochimaru is voiced by Steve Blum who also voices Zabuza.
Blum is a veteran voice actor so he probably could do the voice.

Kenpaichi is voiced by David Lodge. He does Jirayia's voice.
The voice would need to be even gruffer than Kenpaichi's to really distinguish it.

Steve Blum did Orochimaru and Zabuza? Yeah, he definitely would work.
I don't know about David Lodge, depends on how much range he has because anything like Jiraya would be wrong.

Ian McDiarmid wouldn't be a bad choice but I think Danzo should a bit tougher than Palpatine. I mean Palpatine sounded like a real weakling. Evil. But weak.

About David Lodge...I'm sure he's got range but the thing is that voice actors are often type cast so you don't really get to see much of their talent. Of course there are one shot wonders in VAs.

yeah i forgot david lodge does jirayia too, so he wouldn't sound right as danzo, like you said it would need to be gruffer.

ever seen guyver? the guy who voices guyver 3 would be good if his voice sounded deeper and older

Well if you're going with a politician, Dick Cheney with his gruff soft spoken voice would work pretty well.

Blast it! Sorry about the double post.

Speaking of President Barrack Obama ever watch Alphacat on youtube.
That guy needs to be on Saturday Night Live.

What about Chris Britton (Soichirou Yagami from Death Note). He's got a pretty gruff voice though for Danzo it should more scratchy.

Yeah since he's no longer VP I'm sure he's got free time. Let's give Dick a call.

Yeah that's true Palapatine was dying and I don't doubt Ian could do it. I mean he's almost as old as Palpatine himself :D and I'm sure he's got experience. But guys like Ian aren't usually gonna be Anime.

Looking more into Ian McDiarmid, he is a Tony-award winning Scottish-theater actor. He could easy alter the Palpatine voice to add a little more strength.

No he probably wouldn't do it, but he has done television. Maybe Mark Hamill can convince him.

Second Edit: He did lend his voice for various Star Wars video games. Oh and police detective Porfiry Petrovich in the BBC's 2002 TV adaptation of Fydor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. He just sounds better and better for Danzo.

Danzo's a guy. An old guy. That pretty much automatically cancels out any girl's voicing him.

Personally I rather not having Big Hollywood guys playing Naruto characters.
I like how voice actors aren't instantly recognized.

Wooster

Yeah, famous actors not good. It just sounds funny.

But here's another actor, heh: David Threlfall he played Killick in Master and Commander, he was also in Partriot Games. He has an annoyed, gruffy voice. He would just need to add a little "evil" to it.

David Threlfall?

Never heard of him.

I guess his largest role right now is a British series Shameless. I don't know what that is myself, so if you haven't seen those two movies, I can't help you identify him.

He's got raspiness. But a little too much fun.

I don't really know, but someone with a deep voice would be good

Yes but not too deep. At least not deep and resonating to that it sounds
like Barry White.

Charlton Heston would be very good, too bad he's dead.

What a jerk for being dead and not voicing Danzo. What a jerk.

Well there goes James Earl Jones.

Someone get Orochimaru on the horn about his forbidden revival jutsu. Any volunteers for the sacrifice?
