Sai can create other flying creatures. He just prefers birds. If Sai can create another flying creature he wins by spamming lions in the air. Snakes to tie him up.

It depends on what range they start with. if it is long or medium range Sai ecause he just have to use his jutsu to bring his drawings to life. He is like Deidara when he is on his bird and he is fighting wih his art. If it is close range probaly Asum became he has the advantage but then again Sai may come prepare

Asuma wins, if he gets in close range, Sai can't tank his wind blades and he can throw them or use Ash Pile Burning if Sai tries to get away. If Sai uses his ink beasts he could take them out with the wind blades.

Okay the starting distance of the battle is medium range
Then Asuma should be able to close the distance between him and Sai and take it from there.

probably sai cause sai can use his ink to make animals that attacks him and asuma would have to use taijutsu but then he would be tired and lose...

Since Birds are the only restriction are you opening up game moves and filler moves?

I don't think so , I think Asuma can easily use his chakra blade to destroy sai's painting just like what chouji did

Hmm i will allow filler moves for both Asuma and Sai

Sai might have a chance at defeating Asuma. He could make Ink clones and distract Asuma with those and attack him with some of his Ink creatures. But Asuma can easily beat Sai's clones and evade Sai's other Ink creatures. Asuma would most likely win, but Sai has a possibility.

Sai's Ink Flush techinque helps.
By pouring some of his special ink into the ground, Sai can summon several ink snakes to strike from underground and restrain his opponents. Should the opponent prove strong enough to break the binds, the snakes can reform around the target, making struggling pointless
This is his Ink Flush. Once Asuma is restrained Sai could easily spam ink beast against Asuma...

I think Asuma might be strong enough to break out of it using his chakra blade , he can extend the blade with his wind chakra and slice the restraints , then he can use Amida's 1000 Death Embrace to defend against super beast technique

I don't think Asuma would just stand there, and besides he could destroy the snakes with wind blades and scram.

Asuma wins, especially if we're using filler techniques. At medium distance Asume easily closes the distance while Sai draws his bird. Once he's close enough all of his basic moves take out Sai easily. Add in the fact that Asuma can use Amida's 1000 Death Embrace to stomp all ink beasts and Sai's screwed.

Asuma wins IMO. Sai's ink has shown to be destroyed easily by people with strong Taijutsu like Sakura and Choji. And Asuma specializes in taijutsu, especially with his chakra blade.
Though I'm trying to figure out, does the ink take up a lot of chakra? If it does then Asuma wins since all he really needs to do is stand in one place and use Amida's 1000 Death Embrace. However if it doesn't, then Sai stands a chance and will keep on spamming his ink's to the point where Asuma will get tired out.

sai wins easily because chakra blade's can't cut ink snakes
asuma is tied and sai's victory

When was that proven? If Asuma's blades can cut through rock they would have no problem with ink that was easily destroyed by Shikamaru's shadows and Choji's punches. Also, Asuma can dodge some of the ink attacks.
