For close range, kunai because they are used as a knife and are easy for hand-to-hand combat. For long range, shuriken because they are thrown easily and have a better chance of hitting someone with its 4 pointy sides. Therefore, it's a tie. ^^

I'd stick with shuriken, as they are easier to conceal for surpring you opponents and can be thrown with quite a lot of force even though they are dwarfed in weight compared to a kunai.

We believe kunai are better than shuriken.
Both though are useless to us. Besides we use those chakra transceivers to fight as weapons, kunai and shuriken are nothing to elite ninjas. What's matters there is the skill at genjutsu, Ninjutsu and Taijutsu.
