Cause a fair few things were edited, eg Shikamaru smoking, random towels on ladies at hot springs, homosexuality jutsus turning into soliuettes so we didn't get to see Sasuke and Sai nor the two other ladies Kono transformed into (which means I'll have to trace over in black or white pen) or maybe Hidan's lovely vocab...?

In hitman reborn which you Viz guys also licsense, one of the main characters is 14 and hes always seen with a cigerette in his mouth. I mean, some of like this stuff and its for teen rated, isn't it? I'm sure teens don't really mind this stuff.

Well you are right.....they do censor a LOT of stuff.Like when sasuke fights itachi in volumes 42 and 43 sasuke says the F word an unbeilivable amount of times.Ive seen the japanese uncensored versions.They would be rated adults only if this manga got uncensored.

It was uncut till volume 5 or 6 because like in 2004 parents were too dumb to see the for teens sign and sued viz for having cause words and other in-apropiate things so viz just stoped putting that stuff in there so they would not have to deal with legal disputes

About the making uncut volumes, they might do it after the series is over, to gain more money.

Well the parents shouldn't really be reading their kids stuff to check if its good or not. But sueing Viz? They must of had a lot of money to do something like that.

Let's just face it, some 'people' are just 'sue happy' - they'll sue anyone they can either for the attention or (most often) the money. Jerks!! They ruin it for us all...

As to the cuss words in the originals - yes, they're there... ***spoiler** Jiriaya does say the 'f' word several times in one of his fights with pain one of the online mangas. Why can't they just leave the cuss words in Japanese when they translate. Then, those of us who know can read it and those who don't won't be offended... Seems simple to me....
They do tend to mess with things way too much in translating for the U.S. I think it's a 'put on the blinders to the real world' syndrome...

As for the characters smoking... Get real, parents. Kids see that going on often. I'd be more worried if they didn't see things like that simply because it's part of the world we live in. Are these same 'over-protective parents' going to shield their child from seeing a dog going to the bathroom? Probably. They're being WAY too overprotective and as a result those children will be in 'shellshock' when they grow up and see all the sh** in the real world... Poor kids...

And, yes, I'm a parent, but a sensible one, I hope...

They've even edited 'minor' things, like, remember early in the manga when Sasuke was fighting Haku? In the anime, he did have the needles sticking out all over him, but it didn't seem that bad. In the manga, blood was dripping everywhere and he looked really ragged (more truthful portrayal). Yeah, they tone a lot of stuff down... What, do they think kids can't handle it these days? Wrong!

This is the kinda conversation i've been wanting to put my opinion into. I haven't really been able to get my hands onto manga because the place that sells it was too far away so i just read the online manga. But just the other week a bookstore opened up quite close to my location with heaps of Manga in it. I noticed quite a bit of edits to the Naruto manga and that really pissed me off...especially when Konohamaru did the sexy jutsu and Viz just made it black lookin' shadow's and i miss Hidan's "colorful" vocab lol. I just want some manga company to translate it right and leave it the way the artist drew it.

Don't people just add those when they translate the manga? There's no way Kishi would write a manga that swears so much.

i could see them editing the anime but i dont like edits to the manga. it is very annoying i have to admit that parents cant see the T rating so viz has to edit things out for the kids to watch it when its a teen manga. I dont think its viz's fault though i blame the parents that complian about what their kids are reading when they dont even check the rating of it in the back to see if its ok. they think just because their kids like it then they must be for kids but there NOT they are for teenagers that like it uneditied in its original style that was intended for it to be read in
