I like them in written English. They act like emotional punctuation marks and universal connectors for things that occur better face to face.

I don't mean this to offend anyone, but I think cursing shows that you lack either the self-control, maturity or curtosey to express yourself without them.

I'm not gonna say I never do it, but I limit it. I rarely say them. Dam I use frequently but that's not a curse word is it?

I hate them. People just can't stay with the original words for things, can they?
However, I will say them once in a while. Not often, but it does happen. Sometimes I don't mean to use them, but you know, sometimes things just slip out.

It depends. Some people do it as kind of a habit, and that's ok, I guess.
On the other hand, I think cursing all the time intentionally shows that you lack a large enough vernacular to express your feelings with different words.
It can be funny, emotional, and useful when used in context, but as a whole, I try not to swear. I especially don't direct them at people. That's not as funny.

Unfortunately, its become a habit of mine. I dont think that they should be used habitually, unless amongst friends or in a party that doesnt mind, and like spark said, overusing them definitely gets annoying, but they have weaseled their way into my vocabulary lol.

Its part of my vocabulary and a way to express one's feeling. But I agree with Spark, saying it to much in one sentence is not only annoying but shows how uneducated you are that you could not use other words to express your feeling.

I do not like cursing.Never in my life have I cursed.
Haha, that's hard to believe that anyone over the age of 12 has never sweared. It's so common in all age groups, thanks to TV, movies, and of course kids sharing the newest foul words they've learned with each other. Back when I was a kid at elementary school your coolness was gauged by your rudimentary knowledge of swear words. Ironic.
Hockey Otaku
10-27-2009, 02:51 PM
Well, I don't really cuss. The worst I've ever said is, like, crap. I can tolerate it, but sometimes it annoys me. Hockey locker room=cussing central, so I'm kind of used to it.

I use them, but in moderation. Anyone who uses them every sentence needs to either read a book or get an education.

You can say you don't like them, but if you start, it becomes a habit. I've gotten in trouble mulitple times for accidentally slipping in horrible places at horrible times.
I really have no problem with them, really. I mean, who's to say what's right or wrong to say? Why would they create words just to tell you not to use them? I can curse in my house, because it's not that big of a deal to us.
Of course, I can see why people wouldn't want to use them. Whatever you think is fine with me. Just don't come telling me what not to say.

Curse words... They are a part of life. If you don't like hearing them, I suggest sawing your ears off and cauterizing the wounds with a red hot fire poker. They are not good or bad. They are, much like a law. No one really likes either when they run up against them.

Are a creation of society, as are all other taboos, and as for why they're used, because we're taught that we're really not 'supposed' to use them. As such they're 'ment' to carry social/mental weight because they 'should' show how seriously something is affecting us. Instead they have been degraded into something less then taboo, and are now just part of what we consider normal.
Any word can become a curse word... But it's not like it matters anymore because no one F-ing cares anymore about how much someone might cuss because it no longer carries the weight of a true taboo.
If you don't understand what I mean, think about how an older person uses curse words compared to most of today's youth. They use/d them much less, with more force, and usually only when most disturbed by a topic. Compared to the brats of today who seem to think it makes them cool...

Curse words have lost their meaning to me they don't really effect me .but they are in the common vocabulary now and days so it shouldn't really matter to us beside racist curse word that will get most people really mad depending on their background. This is my opinion.

Personally, I use them. Alot. I can cuss up a storm like Hidan if I want to. Or I can use them moderately, but I usually use them. I won't drop F-bombs every third word, however, that's just stupid. But they are a part of my vocabulary.

I just don't like overusage of curse words, I'm not going to get mad if I hear the f' word or the s' word or anything like that. However, when it gets to a point that the whole vocabulary is curse words, it can get kind of nerve racking. I usually don't say anything either way unless it offends someone else.
what do you think of them.
to tell you the truth their just words
As long they're not used in a derogatory context, I'm fine with them. "Curse words" are different from "bad words", in my opinion. Yelling ";);););)" or ";);););)" after stubbing your toe should not be considered bad. Saying ";);););) you, you piece of ;);););)", is bad, for reasons I shouldn't have to explain.
Censorship is also ;););););););) ;);););););););).
Well it's part of the language.Society made them cuss/bad words.Really the words show a strong emotion.

Curse words........In the heat of the moment they slip out yeah, but you don't need to keep using them every single time. Like come on.
They make you look like you don't know much vocabulary, and they make you look ugly. I don't like it, I've cursed a few times, but I don't want to. Its just sorta lame.

Curse words are apart of my vocabulary but I find most of them(except the extremely foul ones) to be little more than words that we have put a negative connotation upon.
I normally don't swear that much, as I use them to vent stress and anger peacefully instead of bottling it up and punching through someone's wall. But if I need to relax, then one or two will slip my lips.

i curse........ a bunch of times..... and i cant say i love saying them but for me there a good way to get rid of anger with words instead of trying to kick the crap outta somebody but i only use the 4 letter words and the word that resembles a donkey thats about it and i only curse when im really frustrated and want to get out my anger....when my parents arent home...

Curse words are used to put emphasis. Think about it when you curse soemone out you say a curse word to further support your statement like you fat b******. Curse words are in some way vulgar adjectives. I wouldn't encourgae it but soemtimes its slips out so...

cussing iz kool...xD jk
i stand by the so far aforementioned statement that cuss words are words that people consider "bad".though actually, they are differentiated by the simple fact that in the 1600's only royalty could say them without being arrested.thats right, all them kings and queens were spitting them out left and right.xD

AHH... i can barly understand this...anyways...my dad would always cuss at me when i did something wrong, like forgetting to do my homework one day...sortta like this "you ****ing ***** i told you i didn't wanna see any ****ing missing assingment again, the next ****ing time you bring me this **** i will beat your *** so ****ing hard youll never bring me this **** ever again." or something along the lines of that...i was only like 6 back then...i would always end up crying...

Sadly, they are apart of my everyday vocabulary. I tired to stop. It sorta worked but not really. Oh, well.
Lol I don't see a problem with them. They are just words. Just the words "word" and "hello" and stuff the only difference is for some reason those words are BAD! lol

I once made a joke with a friend a while ago that english curse words will replace much of the english language and even some of the item term usage and everyday words. Its a sad future that it is possible.
Much greater censoring.
Future TV show.

Bad Words that are so overused that its lost much of its badness and insultness.
So people use them without repercussions.
Degrading of the language itself.

i dont like them, i think they show a lack of self control most of the time and in the real world if you are planning to be high up in any company they are very unprofessional. if you walk into a business meeting and curse you are not going to be taken seriously at all. i think they are just pointless and vulgar. Plus i am religious so that is another reason i dont use them

Yes, I love them.
They help me express how I feel, but there is one word I never use it is the F-BOMB.
I find it to be very offensive unless I am cussing someone out, then I use it lol XD.
I don't see why everyone see the f-bomb as the most dredful curse word ever.I think all curse words are equal in it's power.

I like swearing. It's nice, and pretty common for my age. The only time I don't like curse words is when it's used in a hurtful matter, like, saying, "F*** you!" or something like that.
If we're just talking like that to accentuate our speech or are just kidding, it's totally cool, if you ask me.

I don't - that is actually my favorite curse word of all curse words. Depending on the circumstances, a well placed f-curse word sometimes sums up a situation with more eloquence, meaning and precision than an elaborate string of non-curse words.

Of course it is often quite hilarious when curse words are "watered" down.
I mean look at Robin for instance
"Holy (Beep) Batman"
"Robin we can't use such colorful language in our PG rated movie
"We can't, Batman?"
"No Robin. We can't. Now try again."
"Holy Quantum Mechanics Batman!"
"This might take some getting used to. Sigh"

Most of the "vulgar words" were terms used for things to describe "sexual intercourse". Don't know how or when people start using them or how they got to be curse words from the start either.
